Thread: Mages' Guild [IC]

The four of you are leaving your mage's tower for the first time in quite a while. For some, it might have been years-others only months. All the same, this is the longest journey you've to make yet in your life. Leaving for the moon Ellistrae.

The caravan is loaded, and your masters bid you farewell. The town that's around your tower vanishes in the distance. A few hours pass, uneventfully. Then, as the forest begins to close in around the road, you hear a woman's scream in the distance.

Clay's head snaps around at the sound, as if he expects to see something through the thickening foliage. "That sounded like real trouble! I know the masters said not to leave the wagons, but it'd be pretty cold not to see if we can help! Unless this is one of Master Thumavir's nasty tests. I wouldn't put it past him." He gathers a few pieces of equipment while talking -- notably, his durable metal shield.

Oh gods, please, someone save me! the woman's voice comes again.

You can tell she's perhaps some few hundred feet away, more or less-the trees make gauging the exact distance difficult, but you should be able to find her.

Kaha'i Stormborn At the sound of screams, Kaha'i immediately draws upon her magic. A shimmering glow coming all over her as she casts her Mage Armor. Uhmmm sorry about that, I'm a bit tense. As she sees Zoran and Clay ready themselves to investigate the matter, she finds her own courage again. You are right, let's carefully approach.

The group begins to make their way out.

"Hey!" the caravan master says. "You're supposed to stay on the caravan! I don't care about some woman who's probably too stupid to save herself!"

Blaine, who was overly focused on a novel he was reading, realizes what's going on several seconds after everyone else and sends his owl familiar to see what's happening and get a birds eye view.

"W-Wait for me!" He shouts before blocking out his own senses and focusing on his familiars instead.

The group quickly makes their way into the trees. As they approach the woman, who is continuing to scream and panic, they feel a creeping sense of malaise settle over them.

Then, when they are quite near, a rock is thrown from the woman.

You're... You're not with him? she asks, peaking her head around a tree.

I'm being chased by something... A demon, or something, I don't know. It killed my village, but, but, I was out hunting, and... And... Oh god, they're dead... They're all... All... she says, before beginning to weep.

Sighing at his fellow student's impatience with the master, Clay tries to keep the man pliable. "It's a few hundred feet away. They're already leaving, so let's endeavor to make it as quick as possible by not objecting. You can't fight the tide." He follows the other young mages, his stony skin quickly blending in with the natural rocks in the forest.

Clay nods. Seeing no obvious murderous monstrosity, he mutters a spell that sometimes lets him catch the less obvious.

Kaha'i Stormborn Kaha'i has walked up to the woman, finding a rock or roots of the tree to give her a bit more height. She then puts down her hood and puts on a compassionate smile for the woman. If the damsel in distress doesn't decline, he empowers her with his Aegis of Stone.
