ACMxWCSxBAAC Mentorship Program 2020- Mentee Form
Hi!

ACM, WCS, and BAAC would like to congratulate you on committing to CS @Illinois! If you would like to be paired with a current student at CS @Illinois who will be your mentor and be able to answer your questions regarding classes, workload, internships, and the transition to college, please continue to fill out this form.

We will pair you with a mentor based on your similarity to each other and will send you their contact information as soon as possible!

Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) is a student organization in the CS department that welcomes anyone who shares an interest in computers or computer science. ACM supports Special Interest Groups (SIGs) where students can learn about and build projects surrounding topics like Virtual Reality, Machine Learning, Robotics, and many more. ACM also helps run several large events on campus, including HackIllinois and our annual conference Reflections Projections. A project we're currently building is Core, a replacement for the core services in ACM@UIUC's current generation of infrastructure. Our projects are open source, and anyone interested is welcome to help: https://github.com/ACM-UIUC . If you would like to jump start your freshman year, feel free to drop by our office on the main floor of the Siebel Center for Computer Science (Room 1104) once the semester starts, or reach out to Cecilia (info listed below) about getting involved with our SIGs, events, or projects. Also, feel free to check out our Facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/uiucacm/

Women in Computer Science (WCS) is a student organization in the CS department that is dedicated to supporting the efforts of young women who are pursuing a career in tech. We aim to retain and provide a network of support for our members. We have events for our outreach, mentoring, corporate, and tech teams: there’s something for everyone! :D We hold open office hours for anyone to drop by on weekdays from 1-4pm in the WCS office (Siebel 1318) and would love for you to stop by! During office hours, you can get advice on building your resume, practice for technical interviews with a WCS officer, come for coffee breaks or other events with company recruiters, or simply just come to do your homework! You can find more information on our website here: wcs.illinois.edu  or check out our Facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/336760946705551/.

Blacks and African Americans in Computing (BAAC) is a student organization at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. We strive to become a strong support system for minorities in computing related fields that fosters scholarship, professional development, and a sense of community. Furthermore, we seek to improve the diversity of the workplace in computing fields by holding technical and professional events and conferences for current students in addition to running outreach programs to encourage the next generation of students from underrepresented communities to pursue careers in computing fields.

Thanks again for your interest in this program!
