Meet Seamus, a beautiful, loving, full blood Pyr who is looking for a very special family to call his own. Weighing in at approximately 105 lbs., Seamus has the most beautiful and expressive brown eyes and face and the cutest badger ears. Seamus came into rescue as a stray whose owners declined to claim him when contacted. After being kenneled for about three months with another rescue, Seamus came to NGPR and has been with his foster family since January learning how to be a loved and cared-for companion. Seamus has become a special member of the family who is always ready to give hugs and smiles at you when you come in the door and can usually be seen giving the classic puppy bow to his foster mom, especially at meal time. Seamus gets along very well with his foster canine brothers and sisters, does well with both women and men alike and loves his foster mom and dad and human older brothers. Seamus loves to run, loves to play with his toys, loves the bed (especially likes pillows) and loves to snuggle with his foster mom at night. Seamus is sensitive to physical changes in his environment and as can be typical with the breed, and will alert when there is change or movement outside. Seamus will need a family who understands this personality trait and can accommodate his alerting tendencies. Seamus has found the resident cats and water fowl a little too interesting, so a home without these or other small critters is needed. Seamus came to foster with food guarding issues and has worked very hard to overcome them. He eats with his foster siblings and has learned to trust his foster mom when it comes to his food, treats and toys. Seamus will need an experienced owner to help him continue his progress and someone who understands this type of behavior. Because of his guarding history, Seamus will need to go to a home with older children only (we are recommending kids over 13 years). Seamus can be crated and is let free during absences with no destructive tendencies. He knows basic commands, walks well on a leash and is housebroken. Seamus will make a devoted pet, loving companion, and valued family member. His foster mom is so very proud of all his progress, loves him dearly and knows he’s ready for a family to call his own. If you are dog savvy and want to be rewarded thousand-fold, Seamus is your boy! He will make it worth your while!

NGPR does not adopt dogs to homes with children under 6 years old.

About Us: National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) is not a shelter. We are a not-for-profit, tax-exempt coalition of Pyr rescuers and rescue groups. We save Pyrs and Pyr mixes across the country and place them in approved foster homes so we know how they will interact with your family. Please consider adopting or fostering. Every dog who is fostered or adopted makes room for another Pyr coming out of a kill shelter. Prior to adoption, NGPR dogs are fostered for a minimum of two weeks (usually more), spayed or neutered and fully vetted. Dogs coming from out of area are certified with a USDA health certificate before going to their new homes. Our rescuers adhere to the highest placement standards and will take back any dog whose adoption does not succeed. Visit www.nationalpyr.org to learn more about us, our mission and our breed.
