Many people think of filmmaking as simply a “hobby”, not as a money making industry that can actually sustain a positive financial impact on a community and a filmmaker’s income. In addition, thinking of film as simply a vehicle for “entertaining” the masses has long transpired, and in reality is regularly utilized as a tool to inform audiences on a variety of social issues.

Our guests on tonight’s program are committed to these notions in their life work. Join in the discussion of how film can be a tool for informing audiences on global economics, while at the same time contributing to an artist’s personal financial growth.

With guests:

Dr. Keith Nurse is truly a contemporary visionary with multi-disciplinary areas of interest and expertise. He is a global economist  who has been instrumental in bringing recognition to the production of independent film and television as a vital, income producing creative industry within the Caribbean and African Diasporas.

Stephanie Black is a documentary filmmaker whose credits include the award-winning feature: LIFE AND DEBT (2001) also H-2 WORKER. (1990)

Dr. William H. Harwood is a College Professor, at the University of Texas, Pan American.
