Monday morning we went to the courthouse and gave the county commissioners a check for $8,535. We weren’t being generous we were coerced. You see, the only way we can officially oppose their absurd subdivision road maintenance Local Improvement District is to pay 15 years of assessments in advance. We’re sure the commissioners are counting on that hurdle as a way to limit dissent and opposition to their dereliction of duty and subsequent money grab.

While we’re not thankful for the commissioners, we are especially thankful for the eight homeowners from all corners of the county who launched the lawsuit on Nov. 20 that will clean up this mess. We are thankful that the BoCoFirm website (bocofirm.org) has been set up to present an alternate viewpoint to the self-serving propaganda the commissioners sent us in the mail (at taxpayers’ expense). And we’re thankful for all of the folks who have taken a very large financial hit to pay in advance and join the fight, over 200 at last count!

Rest assured, the joy of this holiday season “donation” to the county coffers isn’t permanent. We fully intend to be in the large and growing chorus of voices that not only will call for a redress of grievances, but also for the commissioners’ seats in upcoming elections.
