Baner-Balewadi DP: Activists to suggest changes

The Green Pune Movement, an association of activists, has framed a sample letter for sending suggestions and objections about the Baner-Balewadi green development plan.

The Green Pune Movement, an association of activists, has framed a sample letter for sending suggestions and objections about the Baner-Balewadi green development plan (DP).

The association is supported by former mayor Advocate Vandana Chavan, Aneeta Beninger, founder-director of Centre for Development Studies and Activities and Pune Municipal Standing Committee chairman Sham Deshpande. “The sample letter will help citizens in two ways –understanding the format of sending suggestions and objections in the prescribed format as needed to the government and the major points on which objections can be raised,” Beninger said. She added that the core members of green pune movement are also working on the detailed objections that will be ready in a couple of days.

Vandana Chavan said that this is the last chance for Pune citizens to save Pune’s green cover by sending their suggestions and objections. Satish Khot, president of National Society for Clean Cities (NSCC) said that citizens with a group of about 25 members could approach them for holding a meeting and explain the nitty-grittys of the DP. Those interested may contact the members at 304, Narayan Peth or call on 24441666, 24441777 or send e-mail to greenpunedp@gmail.com . Citizens can send their suggestions and objections for 60 days , starting last week of September.
