Introduction

My name is Lesleigh Nixon, and so far, I have spent 25 years of my life working for the City of Los Angeles, Department of Water and Power. Have there been good times? A few.  Have there been bad times? Ohhhhh yesssss!

I'm going to share my journey, in hopes of helping others - male and female - who feel like they are all alone in a hostile, and sometimes unbearable, working environment.

My journey has been quite long and eventful, so I am going to have to break it up into different posts. It won't be in order of occurrences, because we're talking about many years, so please bear with me. I'm going to start with the events that have had the biggest impact on me, and work my way around from there.

The reason I call myself the 'Fly In The Sugar Bowl', is that I'm the only Black woman in my position, in a predominantly White occupation. Sure, there are a few other flies around, but none of them are female.

Just to let you all know, everything that I post can be verified with documentation

If I can help just one person out there, I'll be a happy camper.
