- Reviewed in the United States on August 29, 2014Author Holly S Roberts has given her readers book two in a series that is directed toward those who love romance fiction in a sports context. This second book is about a professional baseball player who is the target of a desperate young woman who is willing to do whatever needed to insure that her siblings are safe from the foster care system from which she rescued them after the death of their mother. However, at the core of this story are three young people who have lost nearly every sense of hope and the ability to trust in any possibility for good. Even when the disastrous attempted robbery of Reed Tyler's home results in bringing him into daily affairs of the Shumway siblings, there is that subconscious resistance to nearly everything Reed wants to do to better their lives. Only those who have truly been afflicted with unrelenting poverty can understand that there comes a time when the only thing left is that faint sense of dignity, feeling that one cannot allow oneself to be overcome with the generosity of others, no matter how well intentioned. Jayne is one of those people who has had to strive so . for even the most basic of human amenities. Accepting anything from Reed is so difficult. Is it an insult to her dignity or has Jaycee become so closed off and locked into her own world of doing without that she has forgotten how to be open to simple acts of kindness? Readers will love six year old Bitsy and the unusual insights of Jaycee's fifteen year old brother Jon. All in all this book is a deeply emotional and very erotic story yet there is a sense of respect for the presence of minor children in the mix and to keep their interests in the forefront of any relationship between Reed and Jaycee. It is the balance between the erotic and Jaycee's family interests and the way those interests become Reed's interests as well that makes this such a compelling story. Such a good book and one I am delighted to have read. I hope all who love the com inaction of sports and romance will take the time to read and enjoy. It is truly worth it.

This was a nice read for me personally and I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed the concept of the story and the way the author meshed the characters together. I was a bit concern at first, because I wasn't sure if the author was going to give me what I needed from the characters, because of their ages, but I think mission accomplished. I also liked that this story could be a stand alone, although it is a part of a series, I didn't need to read the first book to be updated and was able to dive right in to this story.
The opening scene and chapter for Strike, was so interesting and such a page turner, that that had to be one of the best and most interesting break ins I've read lol. It also sets the pace for the rest of the story and the relationship brewing between Jaycee and Reed. Reed is a baseball star at 25 and Jaycee is 20, struggling to keep her family together and food on the table. Once Reed got pass Jaycee's wall and Jaycee lets her guard down and her pride at receiving handouts, the chemistry between both Jaycee and Reed was a pleasure to read.
I liked that the author also allowed us the opportunity to get to know Jaycee's brother, Jon and sister, Bisty. It was nice seeing Reed having to work as well to bond with them, and Bisty was just too adorable.
Overall, it wasn't great, but it wasn't a bad read and I was entertained on all different levels with this book.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2014I really enjoyed this book. The sex scenes were smoking hot like all the ones Holly writes.
My favorite part was that there was not a lot of made up conflict. I read a book a day and sometimes I get tired of the formula, 2-3 conflicts, 50 pages or so from the end break them up so we can have a HEA, we didn't have to go there this time. Sure there was an attempt to break them up but this time Jaycee was smarter than that, you go girl!!! Not to say everything was wonderful because all relationships have issues but in this story they worked through them.
Loved Jaycee's family and her desire to take care of them and their's to take care of her. Holly painted a very realistic picture I felt of what life is like for people who fall between the cracks in our society, and struggle ever day just to survive.
HIghly recommend for realistic characters, love of family and smokin hot sex. ;)

I really like this sports series, it is nice that each book can be read as a standalone novel. It's fun, heart-warming and hot. What more could you ask for in a book. Can't wait for the next one in the series.
