KAREN HAMILTON Obituary

KAREN TAGGART HAMILTON
Karen Taggart Hamilton, age 70, died peacefully on Thursday, February 27, 2014 in Flower Mound, Texas with family by her side. Born August 17, 1943, Karen was a longtime Virginia resident and a graduate of Fairfax High School and Bridgewater College. She dedicated thirty-one years of her life to teaching at Robert Frost Middle School in Fairfax, Virginia, where she served as head of the English Department. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband and is survived by her two children, Shane and Skylar, her brother, Robert Taggart III, and her two grandchildren, Shiloh and Aaron Burris. A lively, intelligent, and industrious personality, Karen will be sorely missed by her friends and family. A memorial service will be held at her home church of Providence Presbyterian at 9019 Little River Turnpike in Fairfax, Virginia at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Providence Presbyterian Church in Fairfax, VA or to the American Lung Association, which is a cause that, as a person with COPD, Karen generously supported in her own lifetime.

I spent many wonderful hours with Karen and Dave back in the 60s. They were wonderful, generous people with great senses of humor. I think of them often and shall always miss those good times.

Karen was a fine person and a great friend. She was also an outstanding English teacher under whom I was proud to work. Goodbye, Karen, I will miss you.

I knew immediately the day I met Karen that I liked her. She had a great attitude towards life and lived it happily. I'm sorry she didn't have many many more years to enjoy with her family and friends. My love and good wishes to all who loved her, especially the Taggart and Hamilton families.

Karen has been a constant ray of sunshine in her emails and positive postings on Facebook. She never lamented her illness and always had a kind word. The Taggarts and Hamiltons are in our thoughts and prayers. - Maureen & Bob Gendrolius
