From what I've heard, this is Vincent Morrone first published story. I wouldn't know from the way he writes. He has great skills, the story was written to perfection and I loved each and every single word of it. I signed up for this blog tour, being curious what the book has to offer. In the past couple of years, I have read enough paranormal romance. There are great books, but ones that practically has the same story as the other, it becomes boring sometimes. But not with this one, not with Vision of Shadows. Vincent created a world that captivates you, strong characters with attitude and courage, and they have powers.
Starting the story, we have the chance to meet our main character Bristol who has had a hard life. One day, she is waiting at a cafe for her parents to meet up with her. Unfortunately, they are both ran down by car and they died in the crash. Ever since she was a little girl, Bristol could see and speak to ghosts, and she has dreams that are more like visions. She feels like an outsider, always a freak who can’t relate to anyone. The stranger part is, Bristol has visions about a boy named Payne, and she was warned to stay away from him and his family. After a while, she finally feels loved, after her uncle Mark takes her and brings her home to the Spirit.
I don’t know how to describe this book, to do it justice. The story it’s about what you can’t see with the naked eye, it’s more about feeling everything around you and making courage accepting what you really are. The story it’s filled with darkness, sadness and fear; but at the same time you can feel the love that surrounds these characters and what they have to go through together. I liked the closeness between Bristol and her new family. I can’t wait to read the next installment to see what happens next. Thank you for the opportunity. I highly recommend this book, especially to those who love YA Paranormal Romance! You are going to love it!

I wish to thank the author for providing me a copy of his book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is packed full of ghosts and the paranormal. Two families conflicted for centuries, each with their own secrets and a romance that screams danger from the get-go. The basic storyline has been used before, but the author weaves a tale that constructed something quite original from the usual and kept me intrigued all the way through.
“So, if you need to take to your wife or to speak with your dearly departed mother, there really is no reason to make the trip down to the graveyard. Save the gas. You’re better off going to a place they felt tied to, like their place of business or their home.”
The above quote really spoke to me. How many times when we’ve lost someone do we feel connected to them in places other than where their body rests? It’s thoughts like this, throughout the book, that the author provides a refreshing look at death and the afterlife.
The author really put his best foot forward with not only character development but also with the plot and scenery. He brings the reader into the story, which at times will make the readers heart beat a little faster, sweat a bit, tremble and gasp out loud in shock. An amazing YA book that readers from 14 on will be talking about with their friends. The only thing I found that was a little off was some of the slang used, but other than that this is a great story from start to finish.
I look forward to reading more from this author and recommend this book to everyone interested in something a bit out of the ordinary.

Книжка неплохая, но изюма бы))
Отношениям героев не хватило глубины и обоснуя. Не, я все понимаю, они чуЙствуют связь и любовь до гроба, но как-то неубедительно. Много интересных второстепенных персонажей, но тоже прописаны поверхностно. Хотелось большего.
Жутко напрягало, как героиня каждые пять страниц говорила о своей обычности и серости, а все кидались уверять ее, мол, нифига подобного, она прекрасна и необыкновенна, и блаблабла.
И глупые моменты есть, и штампов полно.
В общем, яркий пример того, что взрослым дядям не надо бы писать от лица девочек-подростков.
Взять бы ту же паранормальную канву (историю с тенями и одержимостью) и нарастить на нее нечто посерьезней, повнушительней, побрутальней...
А так, it was ok - не более.
Пы.сы. Да, тут типа два враждующих клана с суперспособностями))) Герои на Ромео и Джульетту не тянут, но намеки есть.

I'm looking forward to reading more in this series. Bristol was believable and the story was paced well. I will be recommending this author to others.

I recieved a copy of this booko from the author.
From the synopsis of this book, I expected it to be just the book for me. Sadly, it wasn't.
The writing was okay, although I have to say that the names should've been less similar; Jared and Jay. I often mixed up the two of them, which led to confusion. One of the things that worked well, was the humor.
I think the main problem for me was that it felt like this book tried to be something it wasn't. I mean, when you have to bring in a possessed cow, things are looking rather bad, right? I think it was meant to be funny, but to me it was just stupid. Furthermore, I think it was a bit too cliché; girl loses parents - moves to new town - meets boy - falls in love - has psychis abilities - runs away from love - ends up with loverboy. Well, sorry to spoil you, but that's pretty much how any YA paranormal book ends, so this really shouldn't come as a surprise to you.
I was let down by this book. It wasn't what I was expecting it to be. The whole "boy from dream - will he love me or kill me?" concept was what had me, but I didn't feel like that was what this book was really about. Instead it was about a girl with psychic abilities, trying to fit in.

So any day now, I'm about to meet the boy of my dreams--literally. Then I get to see if he's going to be the love of my life or the end of it.
Funny thing is, I'm not sure which idea scares the crap out of me more.
One of the greatest joys and pleasures that I have in running my blog is discovering gems of books like Vision of Shadows. This book may have eventually come to my attention, but then it may have not, and I may have missed out on getting to know these characters and discovering Vincent Marrone's fantastic writing. And that would have been a tragedy.
Bristol Blackburn is a loner. That comes from spending all your time talking to ghosts. Her parents are distant at best, but when they are killed in a terrible accident, Bristol moves to the town of Spirit, to live with an uncle and cousins she has never met. It's here that Bristol will meet the boy of her dreams. Literally. Bristol has been dreaming of Payne for as long as she can remember. The only problem is, she's not sure if Payne will fall in love with her, or kill her. And how is she supposed to keep it a secret that she can talk to ghosts where she is being haunted by shadows?
Vision of Shadows is told from the point of view of Bristol. Sometimes a male writing in a females voice can fail to capture their essence, and the character can end up coming across as a bit flat. But that wasn't the case here. The author did an amazing job with Bristol and she was just so spot on as a character. Her emotions, her actions... Perfect!! She was strong and tough, caring and loving, compassionate and witty.
Payne McKnight huh?" I said, trying to sound unimpressed. "Not bad."
Maggie rolled her eyes. "Please. I saw the way you were looking at him."
I blinked at her, trying to keep a straight face. "And how was I looking at him?"
Maggie smiled and wiggled her eyebrows at me. "Like he was the man of your dreams."
I nearly choked.
Payne McKnight. I'm note even sure I can describe how much I loved him. He was so protective of Bristol. The lengths that he would go to to protect her were mind blowing. He was affectionate and loving and stood up for what he believed. The romance developed so perfectly, but didn't at anytime overpower the story.
Vincent Marrone writes with such humour and wit, and there were so many times that I found myself having a little laugh over something that one of the characters said. The banter between them was just brilliant, and I especially loved Grandpa and Bristols relationship. If I'm being honest each and every character was awesome. They all added something special to the story and the dynamics of Bristols family was a joy to read.
The pacing of this was just great. It built exactly as it was meant to in all the right places. Never dull and always something going on to keep you turning the pages.
If ghosts, action, paranormal and romance are your thing, then you just can't go wrong by grabbing yourself a copy of Vision of Shadows. If Vincent Marrone continues to write stories just like this, then I can see him quickly becoming a very firm favourite of mine.

Our main character, Bristol, can see dead people. Once we get that out of the way things get a bit weirder, of course! I quite enjoyed Vision of Shadows by Vincent Morrone. It was fairly fast paced and had a twisty plot. As an added bonus, all of the characters are interesting (even the ghosts!)
Bristol goes to live with her uncle, cousins and grandfather in the town of Spirit after her parents are killed in an accident; here she navigates going to a new school, making friends both with real people and dead ones, and trying to wrap her head around the conflict between her family and another – that of the guy she has dreamed about all her life (literally, dreamed about him), Payne. The question is, will he be good for her, or will it all go horribly wrong and end in death and destruction?
Vision of Shadows is a quick and enjoyable read, it doesn’t drag at all and I found it quite enthralling (so much so I’m still thinking of it a couple of days after I finished it!)
However, I do so wish this novel had been in third person. This is a personal preference thing of mine, and while some stories are great in first person narrative, I wanted a bit more. First person is just so narrow (for obvious reasons) and while I understand that’s kind of the point, I feel like readers would have benefited from having more of an overall understanding of this universe that Morrone has created. I just craved that little bit extra to make it an outstanding novel.
As it is though, it’s still very good. Bristol can be related to and she’s not a brat (always a possibility for high school based YA, eeeek!) Payne is, of course, stunning; but even I couldn’t be annoyed by that because he is so nice. And the conflict between her and his families is something else. I’m looking forward to seeing how it all plays out through the rest of the series.

Bristol’s life is thrown into chaos after she witnesses an accident that takes the lives of her parents. Able to see and talk to spirits, she is anxious to ask her folks some questions that are haunting her thoughts, but is flummoxed when they do not appear to her. Moving to the small town of Spirit with an uncle and cousins who are unknown to her is frightening. She fears that they will find out she is a freak, and worries about keeping her secret safe in the boisterous household. Soon she meets Payne McKnight – a boy who she has dreamed about her whole life. The relationship sets strange events in motion and soon Bristol is involved in a blood feud dating back for generations. As she tries to adjust to small town life and questions whether she can fit in at home, problems keep mounting up for the plucky teen.
I loved the overall tone that was present throughout the book. Bristol is a likable girl whom I easily connected with and felt a strong empathy for. The story kept my attention and I thought the mystery surrounding the evil force within Spirit was particularly creepy and horrifying. It contrasted spectacularly with the small-town dynamics and basically friendly personalities there. I especially liked that Bristol’s new family was so supportive and caring. This is a wonderful introduction to what I am sure will be a stupendous series. The darkness, pain, and suffering these families have endured for generations is balanced by the love, tolerance, and humor that they are determined to keep within grasp. I am looking forward to more adventures and learning more about the curse surrounding Spirit.

I loved the overall tone that was present throughout the book. Bristol is a likable girl whom I easily connected with and felt a strong empathy for. The story kept my attention and I thought the mystery surrounding the evil force within Spirit was particularly creepy and horrifying. It contrasted spectacularly with the small-town dynamics and basically friendly personalities there. I especially liked that Bristol’s new family was so supportive and caring. This is a wonderful introduction to what I am sure will be a stupendous series. The darkness, pain, and suffering these families have endured for generations is balanced by the love, tolerance, and humor that they are determined to keep within grasp. I am looking forward to more adventures and learning more about the curse surrounding Spirit.

This book has personality, humor, and danger- all great elements of a book. Put that together with talented writing and an interesting plot, and you have yourself a new favorite read.
Bristol is an awesome female lead character. I get nervous sometimes, reading from a female POV, written by a guy, and vice versa. Sometimes it can be a bit painful, but Vincent Morrone did a really great job. Bristol is funny, honest, and really acts closer to the way a normal girl would act, than a lot of books I read nowadays. I also really enjoyed Payne's character. Everything from his name to his personality had me hooked, as it was meant to. He's an addictive kind of guy, and it was interesting to read about how he and Bristol acted with each other.
The plot set around these two is interesting, and has several levels. There are personal issues, family issues, town issues, community issues, an after-life issues, all wrapped up into a book full of "I can't believe that just happened!" moments. Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and I can't wait to read the sequel. I would recommend this book to any fan of young adult/new adult paranormal romance.

The cover of this book is amazing; it looks like an ad for a CW show. Actually, the plot of this book is a lot better than any of those teen shows on the CW. The book is about a girl named Bristol and she can see ghosts. Funfact, I wrote a book about a girl named Bristol who could see demons. Anyways, early on in Chapter One we get to see her ability at work, as she chats with a ghost in a diner. They watch as the ghost's daughter gets engaged.
After an unfortunate accident, Bristol moves to Spirit to live with her uncle and his family that only makes the story more entertaining. While in Spirit she also meets the boy from her dreams named Payne and he’s more than just a handsome face. He’s actually from the family that’s sort of feuding with Bristol’s.
This book has it all, action, comedy and of course teenage girls and their high school dramatics. I like Bristol, and even though she has this scary ability she never stops being a true teen. A scene with her and a shirtless Payne is the perfect example of that.
I wish I could say more about this book, mention more characters BUT this little book is filled with so many twists that’s it’s impossible to do so.
Basically, if you enjoy shows like Roswell or Vampire Diaries, read this book. It’s easily on par with them. Light when needed, dark when needed, very entertaining book.
After an unfortunate accident, Bristol moves to Spirit to live with her uncle and his family that only makes the story more entertaining. While in Spirit she also meets the boy from her dreams named Payne and he’s more than just a handsome face. He’s actually from the family that’s sort of feuding with Bristol’s.
This book has it all, action, comedy and of course teenage girls and their high school dramatics. I like Bristol, and even though she has this scary ability she never stops being a true teen. A scene with her and a shirtless Payne is the perfect example of that.
I wish I could say more about this book, mention more characters BUT this little book is filled with so many twists that’s it’s impossible to do so.
Basically, if you enjoy shows like Roswell or Vampire Diaries, read this book. It’s easily on par with them. Light when needed, dark when needed, very entertaining book.

This is a fantastic paranormal/ young adult novel. I was blown away by the story. Vincent Morrone has created such a literary gem with this book. It takes place in a town called Spirit in upstate New York and the details the author gives truly allows the reader to see the town he has created. Bristol Blackburn has a gift or ability to see and speak with ghosts. She is able to dream and see the future. A sudden event causes her to move to Spirit to live with her Uncle and family that she has never met before. Her Uncle Mark is the sheriff of Spirit and is raising his two sons on his own and also has his father living with him. Payne McKnight is the town daredevil. He is constantly doing crazy stunts and is able to walk away unscathed. The McKnight family and the Blackburn family are like the McCoys' and Hatfields'... "enemies". However, Payne and Bristol strike up a friendship. The plot twists and turns as unusual occurrences take place. This is a fantastic paranormal adventure that is a definite hit. I was so captivated and intrigued by the entire book. It is well written and the characters are so well developed and captured. I look forward to seeing what comes next to Spirit.

What do you do when 5 stars is an insufficient rating??? Morrone packs fantasy, romance, heartbreak, and action into this book so cohesively, it's hard to believe this is his first published work. I was both excited and hesitant about reading this book -- it's a significant departure from my normal genres (geopolitical thrillers, Presidential biographies, and White House history). If Vincent Morrone continues to write, I will continue to read.
Part of the allure of this book is the vivid imagery. He describes the settings and characters in a way that you can clearly picture everything as though you're standing right there, interacting with the environment he creates.
Kudos, as well, to the editors. This is an e-book with fewer typographical error in it than many from more seasoned authors and/or larger publishers.

While there were a few strange spots, I felt that this book was great. It was different, yet some how familiar. The characters were well thought out and in depth. The writing was intriguing and straight forward. No useless information here. I had a hard time reading through it because it was in the first person, but that's my own personal preference. I throughly enjoyed reading this book while I was at work waiting for customers to come in lol

I honestly loved this book. I got lost in the drama of Bristol and Payne, two teens from feuding families. The rivalry between the two families is intense. There are ghosts involved along with more paranormal activities. This book keeps you on your toes! I definitely recommend this book!

Started with Visions of Secrets and moved onto this book. Enjoyable and difficult to put down at times. There were times I was annoyed with the main character which means the author did a great job writing a teenager.

Oh. My. Gosh. Where do I start? Well, I usually don't start off a review sounding like a fan girl, but this is an unusual case. I have to say, I fell head over heels for this novel. From the very beginning, I was entranced in the amazing story of Bristol and her paranormal infused life. And the moment Payne enters the story... I haven't flipped pages that fast in along time. This story is exactly what I've been looking for. Easily one of the best novels I have ever read and one of my absolute favorites.
After the death of her parents, Bristol Blackburn’s life is thrown into chaos and she’s forced to move to Spirit, a small town where shadows are stirring. As she learns to navigate her new school and figures out how to keep her psychic abilities secret from her family, Bristol comes face to face with the boy who makes a regular appearance in her dreams: the gorgeous, possibly deadly, Payne McKnight. Soon she’ll find out if Payne will be the love of her life, or the end of it — and she has no idea which possibility scares her more.

From the very first page, the plot takes off and you are hanging on the edge of your seat. Naturally, when some authors write a plot like this (action-packed to the point that it is at a constant climax) it is too much to handle and is too busy. With Vincent Morrone's novel, that is definitely not the case. He writes with constant suspense and action, throwing in surprises at every turn, leaving you guessing every second. It flowed naturally, but also had many twists I didn't expect. The plot was both so suspenseful and gripping that I rarely had a free moment where I wasn't reading this story. I was that hooked. And I can't say that very often.
The characters were unbelievably realistic and interesting. Bristol's POV was an absolute joy to read in, and the way she saw things was both intriguing and easy to believe. She harnessed that 'normal teenage girl' factor that most authors seem to miss, while still having the fantasy characteristics when she accepts her role of talking to ghosts. And Payne... Oh Payne. His character was one of the most refreshing I have read from this year. He was an all-around normal guy (aside from being a handsome gentleman with a special ability) but because of his normality, he also has his faults. That is what I liked about these characters. They were so powerful and unreal, yet at the same time, realistic and relatable. Their faults made them the strong characters they were in the end. They really are nicely formed, descriptive, interesting characters.
The writing also left me speechless. Not only was the plot written perfectly, and the characters' back stories impeccable, but so was every other bit of the novel. Just the normal transitioning of scenes and characters' actions were written with untouchable skill. And the dialogue shared between the characters absolutely blew me away! I have read novels before where every bit of the dialogue feels like filler and sounds robotic. The characters sound very predictable and the dialogue is either cheesy or fake. And when writing about characters in their teenage years, for a teenage audience, the characters need to talk like normal teenagers. Not like children off a 90s sitcom. With this novel, the characters spoke to one another spot-on, perfect dialogue. Theirs words actually meant something, were emotional, and constantly laugh-out-loud funny! I had the best time reading this novel.
Overall, this novel was an absolute joy to read. I wasn't disappointed with a single thing and found zero faults and a million things to love. From the plot, to the characters, to the overall writing of this novel, it left me breathless. It was so amazing, I want my own paperback copy now! This is definitely a novel I would recommend to everyone, no matter what genres you prefer. Because you will love this novel. I know I did! As soon as I get myself a paperback copy, I will have to simply wait on pins and needles for the sequel. Oh, how I cannot wait!

Bristol is a 16 year old teenager who has quite a few psychic abilities under her belt. The story starts with her having an experience with a ghost. As she interacts with this very friendly and emotional ghost at a sidewalk restaurant she sees her neglectful parents killed before her eyes. This is something that she never saw coming and it throws her world upside down.
Her becoming an orphan, means she has to leave her home in NYC and move with her uncle to Spirit, NY. This is something she is not too enthusiastic about, after all she does not know him at all. I absolutely loved her uncle and the rest of her family for that matter. They are the complete opposite of her parents. They are caring, warm, sincere, accepting; these the two are polar opposites of each other. The family dynamics are quite honest and beautiful.
Ok, well back to the storyline. It doesn't take Bristol long to realize that there is more going on in Spirit that meets the eye. First, her family, the Blackburn's, are one of Spirit's co-founders along with the McKnight's and these two don't get along. Well, that's putting it lightly.
Soon after arriving in Spirit, Bristol meets the boy of her dreams. Payne is everything her visions promised he would be and more. And the budding romance begins. The catch, he is a McKnight and therefore their relationship is heavily frowned upon. So they have a Romeo and Juliet kind of thing going on and it was very well done.
Payne is pretty great. He's the sexy bad boy and has all these amazing characteristics. Yet Bristol's my favorite character. She is strong, compassionate, funny, kind and truly a great heroine and narrator. She has the backbone to stand up for herself and others and to do what has to be done. I really came to respect her. One of her biggest flaws is her inability to believed she is lovable. Her parents kind of screwed her up a bit. They were neglectful and judgmental and how can any child believe they are worthy of love when not even their parents is capable giving it to them? Needless to say, her new home is full of people who love and accept her and she's not sure if she should trust it.
Bristol and Payne make a great couple. They were amazing and made me laugh. However, something I did not expect from this novel is just how dark it turned out to be. Bristol has been interacting with ghosts all her life and they are entertaining and harmless to her. But as the story progresses it becomes surprisingly and unexpectedly dark.
Vision of Shadows is truly I novel I enjoyed reading and a series I plan to see through. It is funny, heartwarming, suspenseful and well written. It is a novel that impressed me with it's awesomeness and a book I recommend.

VISION OF SHADOWS is one of those books that immediately starts out with a bang. Bristol is waiting for her parents to meet her at an outdoor cafe when her parents are killed right in front of her. Talk about an opening chapter!
After moving in with her uncle and nephews, Bristol tries her best to remain as low key as possible. She doesn't want anyone to know she can talk to the dead, she doesn't really want any friends that she'll have to lie to, she just wants to get through school. Her life becomes a far cry from that. She meets Payne, a member of the family she is supposedly an enemy with, and their life becomes one hectic mess. They find themselves in more and more dangerous situations. Something is trying to kill Bristol and she has no idea how to stop it.
This book really took me by surprise. I was expecting to like it because I'm so into books with ghosts and weird abilities. But I was not expecting how invested I became in the story. These shadows that are haunting Bristol freaked me out! Each chapter I was on pins and needles, not knowing what on earth was going to happen next. Bristol was a great main character and I loved Payne. I thought they were great together and I enjoyed watching them work together, even if Bristol was hesitant to let him in.
The only thing I had a little problem with was how fast Bristol and Payne fell for each other. Yes, I understand that Bristol has been having dreams about him for as long as she can remember, but did he? It never said he did, yet he was the one who became infatuated with her instantly. Bristol tried and tried to keep him at a distance, but ultimately it failed. Given this, I wouldn't consider this insta-love, more like insta-infatuation. It was a bit too fast for me but understandable at the same time.
The main characters were all very interesting and I loved learning their secrets. The plot, however, was my favorite part. It was past faced, kept my attention, and definitely caused some goose bumps. Another great thing about VISION OF SHADOWS? The underlying message. Bristol has lived her whole life not feeling truly loved and was determined to never tell anyone her secret. With time she learned that she was capable of being loved, she had to learn how to open up her heart to the people who cared about her, and not be afraid of who she was. As Dr. Seuss says: "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

Oh my goodness! What an enjoyable read. Mr. Morrone crafted an excellent story and filled it with great characters.
Bristol Blackburn sees dead people. She talks to them actually - a gift she's had as long as she can remember. A gift she keeps secret, because her parents referred to her as a freak. She also has visions that sometimes come true. She's been dreaming of a certain boy for as long as she can remember too. And one dream she's had is of him killing her. Now she's come to stay with her uncle, cousins, and grandpa following the death of her parents. On her first day of school, she meets dream boy.
Payne McKnight is an intense young man. He's intensely compassionate, intensely loyal, and he sets his intense eyes on Bristol. As they spend more time together, it becomes clear that Payne has a few secrets of his own. Oh, and I liked the parallel between Payne's name and the activities he engaged in for fun.
Vision of Shadows revolves around the family feud between the Blackburns and the McKnights, and the curse on them. There is a whole lot of odd happenstance in Spirit, the small town these families inhabit. Mr. Morrone constructed a unique and suspenseful mystery. I was left guessing again and again.
Mr. Morrone populated Spirit with a great cast of characters. Honestly, there isn't a character discussed that wasn't important to the plot. It was thrilling to watch as Bristol, who desperately wanted to be loved and accepted, fight against the forces trying to take away the family that gave her that. I enjoyed seeing Payne begin to heal and let go of the remorse and guilt he's carried for so long following the death of his mom and the disappearance of his cousin. And I loved the grandpas. Witnessing them build bridges toward one another was heartwarming. Mr. Morrone did a fine job of conveying how events in each character's life affected them. I also delighted in the humor each character injected with their own brands of snark. Although Vision of Shadows is a paranormal romance and dealt with some heavy topics, it was a lot of fun to read as well.

Once started reading, I just couldn't put it down. It is full of suspense and intrigue. There is a mystery around Bristol and Spirit town. From the very first page you'll be totally engrossed and wanting to know more about all the mysterious stuff that keeps happening. Some of the mysteries unravel by the end of the book but some of the questions still remained unanswered.
Bristol has always seen visions of boy, she knows that she will see him soon some day. He will be something to her, may be a lover or her murderer, she is not sure yet. Then her parents die in a strange accident and she moves to Spirit town to live with her uncle and his family. From then on strange things start happening. someone or something wants her dead and they will go to any lengths to do so. Even if it meant harming or killing other people in the process.
Payne has always been haunted by the fact that he survived when his mother died in an accident. He is wreck-less and keeps putting himself in danger. But things change when Bristol moves to town. He is attracted to her and wants to live so that he can be with her. Although things are not easy for them, still he will do whatever it takes to protect her.
The story is quite interesting. It has family feuds, curses, people with supernatural abilities, love, hatred, ghosts and shadow creatures. All the characters are likable and there are some funny moments that made me laugh. Overall I enjoyed reading it and will recommend to fans of paranormal and mystery.

He is attracted to her and wants to live so that he can be with her. Although things are not easy for them, still he will do whatever it takes to protect her.
The story is quite interesting. It has family feuds, curses, people with supernatural abilities, love, hatred, ghosts and shadow creatures. All the characters are likable and there are some funny moments that made me laugh. Overall I enjoyed reading it and will recommend to fans of paranormal and mystery.

First of all, seriously, go get this book and read it A.S.A.P. You will not be disappointed and I dare you to put it down after starting. It was THAT good!
Ok now that I've gushed a bit to the review!
This book surprised me. I like YA books, just like but this one I absolutely fell in love with. The story line was incredible. So many twists to things I couldn't even anticipate coming. This is the first book that I had absolutely no clue what was going to happen throughout. That almost NEVER happens!! This book to me is a little bit Romeo & Juliet, mixed with the Hatfields and the Mccoys, mixed with a little supernatural, and last but not least a touch of something more at work. And that last thing I have not quite figured out yet but I'll be sure to grab the next book in this series to figure that tidbit out.
The main characters of this book are Payne and Bristol. Payne isn't your typical YA teen. He has secrets but beyond that he is the most loyal, protective, caring, not full of himself, and pretty funny boy who has no idea how handsome he is and how many girls are swooning just looking at him. But he's humbled by his family and all the things h has seen at such a young age. He seriously had to become a man too fast in his young life.
Bristol is a girl surrounded by "people"(read the book you will understand the quotations) but is very alone, until she is thrust back into a town with extended family she has never met. But before all that she learned to be independent and rely solely on herself. This independence has made her stubborn and also that she is unworthy of love from anyone. Luckily those who surround her love her very much and start chipping away this wall. But beyond all that she has a heart of gold. She cares more about others then herself, she is completely loyal to those around her, she is quirky in a good way, and she is comfortable in her own skin. She isn't the heroine character with a thousand insecurities thank heavens! She also trusts her gut completely which comes in handy throughout this book.
So beyond these pretty amazing characters is a book full of so many mind blowing reveals and twists and turns to an amazing story line you definately need to pick this one up.

Vision of Shadows was an interesting story with lots of twists and intrigue right from the beginning. It felt original and was very enjoyable.
I loved the pacing of this book. Vincent Morrone did a great job of heightening the tension and suspense in the story and then reversely slowing it down so it could all sink in. Actually, I really enjoyed his writing style throughout from his build-up of characters to the way he managed to develop the various relationships and events in Vision of Shadows.
The book is written from Bristol’s perspective and I really liked her a lot more than I expected to. I normally find that in a lot of Young Adult Paranormal books, the main character is too uptight to be likeable but I found Bristol funny and endearing. I enjoyed reading Payne’s character too and loved Bristol’s new family right from the beginning.
There is a lot going on in Vision of Shadows but everything tied in and worked well. I often find that I read a lot of Paranormal books and like them, but never really feel like I’ve followed and enjoyed the whole story. Just before I was about to read Vision of Shadows, I was kind of expecting the same, possibly a four-star rated fun book. However, that would not do justice to the author or his book because from the moment I started the book, I was captured and enthralled. It was written excellently and I’m optimistic that Vision is going to be a great series.

Once started reading, I just couldn't put it down. It is full of suspense and intrigue. There is a mystery around Bristol and Spirit town. From the very first page you'll be totally engrossed and wanting to know more about all the mysterious stuff that keeps happening. Some of the mysteries unravel by the end of the book but some of the questions still remained unanswered.
Bristol has always seen visions of boy, she knows that she will see him soon some day. He will be something to her, may be a lover or her murderer, she is not sure yet. Then her parents die in a strange accident and she moves to Spirit town to live with her uncle and his family. From then on strange things start happening. someone or something wants her dead and they will go to any lengths to do so. Even if it meant harming or killing other people in the process.

You do not need to read this first but it is really good! I read it and was hooked and couldn’t wait to get to Vision of Shadows.
Vision of Shadows lived up to my expectations and I am happy to say that I loved it as much as I hoped I would! It was funny, made me anxious, had a bit of a mystery in it, as well as a bit of romance. The main character, Bristol, can see and speak to the dead. She also has dreams that are premonitions as well as really strong intuition. Best of all, she is completely down to earth.
Her character is really funny but she is not trying to be. She just seems like a very grounded teen that has had more tragedy in her short life than is fair. Yet, she does not let that bring her down.
Supernatural elements are introduced throughout the story. The author did an amazing job bringing the dead characters in and out of the story; set up a mystery that kept the reader guessing how on earth could this be stopped; and had a healthy level of humor throughout.
There were several times that I literally laughed out loud while reading this story. There were also times I found my heart pounding with anticipation.
Parts of the story were wrapped up at the end of the book but there were some underlying themes that leave us guess as to what will happen next. I definitely cannot wait for the next book and will be one of the first in line when it comes out!

The story is told from the first person point of view of heroine Bristol Blackburn, a 17-year old who has tragically lost her parents. After their death, she relocates to the town of Spirit, where the rest of her mysterious relatives reside. She soon makes friends and meets a boy, Payne McKnight. The problem with Payne is she has had visions of him in dreams since she was young. Sometimes the dreams are wonderful, sometimes they are deadly. As strange happenings seem to find her wherever she turns, Bristol must figure out her visions and dreams, and somehow survive them both.
Bristol is one of those wonderful characters that you love to have in your ear as they tell the story. Her point of view is detailed, fun, quirky at times, and serious when it’s needed. As I read the story, I got to know her more like a friend than a character, and I enjoyed every minute we spent together. The characters around her are well-developed and very believable. The story has hints of things familiar (like a bit of Romeo and Juliet), yet it has enough originality to keep it interesting. I have always gotten a kind of thrill from reading a first time Author. Perhaps it’s just the unknown. Will I want to continue reading this Author again and again, or will I be unable to get through five chapters? Vincent Morrone is definitely on my want to read again and again list. Honestly, Vision of Shadows blew me away. It is unlike any other book I have ever read (my first Paranormal Romance, and I very rarely read YA). The book is funny, quirky, brimming with heart. It is exciting, spooky, a definite page-turner. (Although, having read it on my Kindle, perhaps I should say it was a definite screen-swiper.)
I saw someone describe Vision of Shadows as a bit of Romeo & Juliet, mixed with some Hatfield & McCoy style family feuding, with a lot of paranormal sprinkled on top; I think that is a perfect description. And I think Bristol Blackburn is an incredible lead character. A teenage girl with normal insecurities and vulnerabilities, but also witty, charming, fun, strong, tough as nails…not to mention her ability to see and speak with the dead.
I really did love this book. Five stars just isn’t enough, but it will have to do. At least until they expand the rating system. :D
