A 16-year-old girl was hospitalized last week with a blood alcohol content five times the legal threshold for driving under the influence after attending a limousine party for a 14-year-old girl, according to police.

According to Longmont police, the limo driver called paramedics on Friday at about 10 p.m. after discovering the girl abandoned by the other party guests in the back of the car on the 1000 block of Yeager Drive.

Longmont Police Cmdr. Jeff Satur said she was taken by ambulance to Longmont United Hospital. Her blood alcohol content was so high that she could have died, he said.

She was conscious and speaking incoherently with medics. Police helped to identify her and contacted her grandmother, her guardian.

The 14-year-old girl’s mother told police that she rented the limousine for the birthday celebration, but denied providing the alcohol. The limo took party guests to Frederick, Fort Collins and Longmont throughout the evening.

At about 10 p.m., the driver discovered the girl during a stop and noted that others who had been with her had abandoned her.

Longmont Master Police Officer Jason Malterud was able to interview some of the other party guests and has been investigating throughout the week, but has not been able to determine who provided the alcohol.

Anyone with information is asked to call Malterud at 303-651-8510. Anonymous tips may be left with Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online at nococrimestoppers.com.
