  • Charlotte Mason on Special Needs
Charlotte Mason is a philosophy that includes many areas. It is expressed in the atmosphere of our homes, in the discipline or training of our children, and in the way we choose to live our lives. All of these are (relatively) easier when things are going well. However, Life is not like that. Things rarely go well in all areas at once. While we cannot address all possible areas in one study, let us attempt one. It is time to take up the question of the child who is not normal, the child with problems - learning disabilities, handicaps

  • NATional cHallenged Homeschoolers Associated Network
NATHHAN began with a telephone call from one mother of a child with Down syndrome to another mother homeschooling her son with Down syndrome in the early spring of 1990. Acting on the Lord's prompting to begin a network of parents helping one another, Diane Macbeth in PA wrote Kathy Salars in Texas on March 17th, 1990, thus announcing the birth of NATHHAN. It's original name was NATional Handicapped Homeschoolers Associated Network and was changed to NATional cHallenged Homeschoolers Associated Network in 1992. This name change was made because many families wanted and needed NATHHAN's support, but didn't really feel they fell into the category of "Handicapped." NATHHAN has a support network of over 12,000. Some of these are homeschool professionals willing to help, some are companies having an interest in serving challenged homeschoolers but most are families, just like yourself, homeschooling special needs children.
