Google search records are not the best way to test the popularity of something, but it is a pretty democratic way. Bottom line is you find out who people want to find out more about.
As a fun little NBA treat, Google released Tuesday their most searched NBA players… and if you have to guess who was on top you’re not really paying attention.
1.LeBron James
2. Jeremy Lin
3. Michael Jordan
4. Kobe Bryant
5. Dwight Howard
6. Derrick Rose
7. Kevin Durant
8. Blake Griffin
9. Ray Allen
10. Steve Nash
LeBron on top is not a surprise. Jeremy Lin second… a mild surprise but it shouldn’t be. His popularity has never been in question. After that we learn MJ is still ahead of Kobe, who is still ahead of Dwight. Didn’t expect Ray Allen and Steve Nash over guys like Stephen Curry, but that’s who people care about.
As for the top trending teams, that had a few surprises:
1. Miami Heat
2. New Orleans Pelicans
3. Golden State Warriors
4. San Antonio Spurs
5. Houston Rockets
6. Sacramento Kings
7. Indiana Pacers
8. Memphis Grizzlies
9. Detroit Pistons
10. Milwaukee Bucks
No Knicks or Bulls from the big markets. I like watching the Pelicans play (well, when Anthony Davis is healthy) but I didn’t see that coming.
