Jeb Bush will likely make a run for the POTUS title in 2016. Former First Lady Barbara Pierce Bush works to advance universal literacy. Son Neil Bush and his wife Maria live in Houston and co-chair the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation. Neil’s daughter, fashion model Lauren Bush Lauren, made headlines when she wed David Lauren, son of designer Ralph Lauren. She founded FEED Projects, a retail company that uses some proceeds to provide meals for schoolchildren around the world. Her brother Pierce Bush is the executive vice president of Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Houston.

KRISTY AND CHRIS BRADSHAW: Kristy and Chris Bradshaw are well-rounded hard workers. She’s a Stanford University School of Business graduate who works a portfolio manager and serves on boards for the Houston Ballet and Hermann Park Conservancy; he’s a the CEO and CFO of Era Group, Inc. LAURA AND JOHN ARNOLD: Both well-educated powerhouses in their own right, the Arnolds now focus on their namesake philanthropic foundation full-time. The young couple signed the Giving Pledge in 2010, vowing to donate half of their wealth – estimated to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $3 billion, thanks to John’s former career as a hedge fund manager – to charitable causes. Laura and John made a rare public appearance at the Breakthrough Houston luncheon in February.

JOANNE KING HERRING: International socialite and political activist Joanne King Herring was portrayed on the big screen by Julia Roberts in Charlie Wilson’s War, although some argue that Herring’s true spirit is inimitable. THE BLANTONS: Jack S. Blanton was married to Laura Lee Scurlock, daughter of oil tycoon Eddy Scurlock, for 50 years until her death in 1999. The Laura Lee Blanton Student Services Building at Southern Methodist University is named for her. He died in 2013, having served as chairman of the board of Houston Endowment Inc., the Methodist Hospital Healthcare System and the Houston Zoo. During his time as regent and later chairman of the University of Texas, he influenced the Texas Legislature to provide financial support for the University of Texas System. The university renamed the Blanton Museum of Art in his honor in 1997. The couple’s three children -- Elizabeth, Jack and Eddy -- run the Scurlock Foundation, which funds medical research, health care and the arts.
