TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Hello, I'm Sandra Orrego, the creative mind behind Everything For A Reason. As a dedicated math teacher since 2015, I have had the privilege of witnessing the accelerated and enhanced learning experiences of my students through the incorporation of hands-on materials. Over the years, I have discovered that leveraging different learning styles is a powerful tool for student engagement and comprehension. For example, I have found that visual learners thrive when immersed in a world of vibrant colors and visually stimulating materials. Kinesthetic learners, on the other hand, excel when presented with activities that encourage movement and physical interaction. And for my socially-oriented students, stations, scavenger hunts, and group activities provide the perfect setting for collaborative learning. Motivated by the impact of these strategies, I am continuously inspired to create and utilize resources that not only educate but also bring joy to the process of learning math. By making math enjoyable and engaging, I aim to foster a genuine passion for the subject among my students. If you would like to delve deeper into my teaching approach and gain further insights into my classes, I invite you to explore my portfolio website. There, you will find a wealth of information about my methods, the resources I have developed, and the positive outcomes they have yielded. Let's embark on an exciting journey where math becomes an adventure, and students discover the true delight in learning.

MY TEACHING STYLE

In my classroom, I strive to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment where students are encouraged to explore, question, and apply their mathematical skills. I believe that by incorporating my industrial engineering insights, I can provide students with a well-rounded understanding of mathematics and its practical implications. I am truly excited about the opportunity to share my expertise and foster a deep appreciation for math in my students. Through my teaching, I aim to empower them with the knowledge and skills necessary for their academic and professional journeys.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have had the privilege of teaching Pre-Algebra and am currently instructing students in Algebra 1 and Geometry at an esteemed International School in Vietnam. Prior to my career in education, I gained valuable experience as an Industrial Engineer, working in the manufacturing sector for a decade. This unique background allows me to seamlessly integrate my practical knowledge and real-world expertise into my math classes. Drawing from my industrial engineering background, I bring a fresh perspective to mathematics education. I am passionate about demonstrating the practical applications of math concepts and showcasing how they relate to the world of manufacturing and beyond. By connecting theory to real-life scenarios, I inspire my students to see the relevance and significance of the mathematical principles they are learning.
