Fleeing Russian Airstrikes: Breaking Borders

VICE News travels to Kilis, a Turkish town on the Syrian border, to meet some of the people who have escaped an escalating humanitarian crisis inside Syria, and hear their accounts of life under the bomb.

More than 250,000 people have been killed and 11 million forced to flee their homes in almost five years of fighting in Syria. Thousands of internally displaced people are now massed on the border with Turkey. But right now only ambulances and a limited number of refugees are allowed to cross.

The Turkish government blamed one set of strikes on Russia, while UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon slammed the attacks as "blatant violations of international laws."

As the humanitarian crisis intensifies further, VICE News travels to Kilis, a Turkish town on the border with Syria, to meet some of the people who have now escaped the war, and hear their accounts of life under the bomb.
