I had another good night of DFS pitcher recommendations Wednesday with three of my four picks finishing in the top 4 in DraftKings scoring including top play Taijuan Walker as my Darkhorse. Hopefully, you didn’t have too much exposure to my one flop with Jaime Garcia. Tonight kind of feels like opening day all over again with so many Ace pitchers under the Friday night lights. Lineup construction will be interesting with all the high-priced pitching and a game at Coors Field.

Ace

Clayton Kershaw (FD-$13,100 / DK-$13,900)

I tried to find a reason to go with one of the other aces on the mound tonight but I could not make a good enough case to pivot away from Kershaw. He has been his usual dominant self this season and continually shuts down the Giants with an amazing .169 wOBA allowed to Giants’ hitters in 253 plate appearances. Fire up Kershaw in Cash games and let others make the mistake of try to go away from him to another ace. He is also a GPP option as his ownership will likely be lower than normal with so many other Aces to consider.

Value

Corey Kluber (FD-$9,600 / DK-$11,400)

Typically, I don’t think I could get away with listing Kluber as a “value” option but on a night where he is only the 6th most expensive pitcher on DraftKings and 5th most expensive on FanDuel I think he qualifies. Kluber has been better against righties in his career with a .265 wOBA allowed and will face an Angels team tonight whose top hitters are righties. Kluber is a solid Cash game option if you do choose to not pay up for Kershaw as a decent sized road favorite in one of the lower Vegas totals. He is also a good flier in GPPs.

Ian Kennedy (FD-$7,800 / DK-$9,300)

Kennedy will the White Sox who have the 4th worst ISO (.134) and 5th worst wOBA (.298) against righties this season. Kennedy has also had success against White Sox hitters in his career allowing just a .281 wOBA in 81 plate appearances. I also think he has a good shot at a win despite facing Chris Sale. Sale has been regressing lately and will face a Royals team that he just pitched against two weeks ago. Kennedy could be a #2 pitcher option on two-pitcher sites or as a GPP play.

Darkhorse

Sonny Gray (FD-$8,000 / DK-$6,500)

If I am going to pay up for Kershaw on two-pitcher sites, I needed to find a cheap option to pair him with so enter Gray who is just $6,500 on DraftKIngs. Gray pitched well in his first start back from injury throwing five innings with five strikeouts while allowing one run at Houston. Tonight he faces a Reds’ team that has been hitting well recently but have just a .301 wOBA (6th worst) and have struck out 23.2% (6th worst) against righties on the season. Gray is a viable Cash or GPP option as a #2 pitcher on two-pitcher sites.
