Evaluating Technology Professional Development in Teachers' Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK), Technology Beliefs, and Leadership

Fri, April 28, 8:15 to 9:45am, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Hemisfair Ballroom 3

Abstract

College Ready Ohio is a two year technology professional development (TPD) program including high school teachers among 10 districts. Through targeted TPD while providing digital resources and mobile technology, teachers learn skills and effectively become “catalysts” for technology integration as leaders in their schools. The current study explores how the roles of TPACK, value of technology integration and technology leadership are prominent foci in the teachers’ development in integrating technology and becoming leaders at their schools. Results of the study suggest that through the TPD, teachers improved TPACK, generally sustained beliefs in value of technology, and started to increase their leadership of informal PD at their schools, suggesting effectiveness of TPD for training new technology leaders.
