Faculty Hiring at College of Engineering - PAF-KIET - Main Campus - Korangi Creek - Karachi
PAF-Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology (PAF-KIET) is currently looking for Lab Engineers, Lecturer and Assistant Professors for its College of Engineering.  We are in search of a suitable PhD degree holders who can strengthen our existing research groups or start a new research group. Our existing research groups affiliated with College of Engineering include

1. Digital Signal Processing – Dr. Imran Naseem
Research Interest: Biometrics, Computer Vision, and Statistical Pattern Recognition.
Funded Projects: (a) ICTRnD project on “FPGA-based Face recognition system” is in progress.

2. Electronic Devices, Circuits and Systems – Dr. Arsalan Jawaid, Dr. Najam Muhammad Amin
Research Interest: Analog IC Design, Readout ICs for Sensor, High speed electrical signaling, multispectral imaging, Energy Scavenging
Funded Projects: (a) Several funded projects through international partners are in progress.

3. Embedded Systems – Dr. Husain Parvez
Research interest:  Architecture and CAD tools for Reconfigurable architectures, FPGA-based Systems design, Embedded real time systems.
Funded Projects: (a) ICTRnD project on “Exploration of alternate reconfigurable architectures” has been completed. (b) ICTRnD funded project on “FPGA-based Face recognition system” is in progress in collaboration with Digital Signal Processing group. (c) Foreign funded project on “Logic intensive FPGA architectures” is in progress.

4. Intelligent Mobile Robotics – Dr. Muhammad Bilal Kadri
Research Interest: Fuzzy Control, Artificial Neural Networks, Genetic Algorithms, System Identification
Funded Projects: (a) ICTRnD funded project on “Development of Intelligent Mobile Robots for disaster mitigation and firefighting”.

5. Smart Networks – Dr. Sameer Qazi
Research Interest: Wireless adhoc networks, P2P Networks, Cloud Computing, Software defined Networks.

*About PAF-KIET:*
PAF-KIET was established in 1997 with the aim of providing affordable and quality education. Academic programs at KIET are designed to prepare students to meet challenges of the fast-changing and developing world. Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) recognized the Institute in 1998 and PAF-KIET was awarded a degree granting status through a charter from the Government of Sindh in the year 2000. PAF-KIET is also approved by Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) for its engineering programs. Sindh Government’s Chartered Inspection & Evaluation Committee (CIEC) has consistently rated the Institute as “outstanding” for academic quality. Also HEC has awarded us the highest category “W” for our top quality infrastructure, facilities and very conducive teaching and learning environment.

KIET’s faculty comprises several members with PhD qualification and vibrant research background. They are actively involved in academically challenging and socially relevant research and in teaching advanced graduate-level courses at our Graduate School of Science and Engineering (GSSE). Graduate programs at KIET include MS and PhD in Electronics, Computer Science and Management Science. It is worthwhile to mention that KIET has been awarded external research funds to the tone of Rs. 40 million since June, 2012. Currently major funded projects are being done in collaboration with National ICTRnD Fund and foreign partners.

KIET’s Graduate School of Science and Engineering (GSSE) coordinates the teaching and research activities under the HEC guidelines for all MS/PhD students of College of Engineering, College of Computer and Information Sciences and College of Management Sciences. We offer both research- and industry-oriented graduate programs to meet the divergent requirements of students continuing or pursuing industrial or academic careers. We offer research and teaching fellowships to graduate students who get the opportunity to work on advanced research problem through funded projects. Faculty members of KIET enrolled at GSSE can avail 55% tuition fee waiver after one year of service. Research publications in ISI-Web of Science indexed journals are awarded through cash, research grants or further reduction in teaching load.
