INVITATION TO BE PART OF A RESEARCH STUDY
This consent form invites your participation in a research study about the types of pedagogies and experiences that define “immersive learning.”

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE RESEARCH STUDY
Things you should know:
- The purpose of this study is to understand how higher education teaching faculty and staff view and understand the concept of immersive learning. Specifically, you are being asked to participate in a survey questionnaire that asks you about your experiences with immersive learning in your role as a higher education faculty or staff member. The completion of this survey should take no longer than 15-30 minutes.
- There are no perceived risks to participating in this study. Your identity will be known to the researcher only. You will not be identified by name in any published research without your permission. There are no substantial risks or benefits to your participation in this research study.
- This study will provide no direct benefit to participants beyond them gaining a better understanding of immersive learning.
- Your participation in this study is entirely voluntary and is unpaid. You may choose not to participate. If you choose to participate, you have the right to ask, and have answered, any questions you may have about this research. You may withdraw from this research study at any time.

WHAT IS THE STUDY ABOUT AND WHY ARE WE DOING IT?
The purpose of this study is to understand how higher education teaching faculty and staff view and understand the concept of immersive learning. The survey instrument used in this study will attempt to ascertain the range of pedagogies that are considered to constitute immersive learning.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF YOU TAKE PART IN THIS STUDY?
If you agree to participate in this study you will be asked to respond to a short survey questionnaire on the next page of this form.

HOW COULD YOU BENEFIT FROM THIS STUDY?
Although you will not directly benefit from being in this study, you might benefit indirectly by learning more about immersive learning as a pedagogy that can be used in higher education.

WHAT RISKS MIGHT RESULT FROM BEING IN THIS STUDY?
There are no perceived risks to participating in this study.

HOW WILL WE PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION?
All data collected from you as part of this research study will be kept on a password protected computer and will be backed up to a cloud-based storage location that is also password protected. Your name and any other information that can directly identify you will be stored separately from the data collected as part of the project.

If we end up publishing the results of this study, we will not include any information that could directly identify you.

It is possible that other people may need to see the information we collect about you. These people work for Elon University and government offices that are responsible for making sure the research is done safely and properly.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT ABOUT YOU AFTER THE STUDY IS OVER?
We will not keep your research data to use for any other purpose. Your name and other information that can directly identify you will be kept secure and stored separately from the research data collected as part of the project.

We may share your research data with other investigators without asking for your consent again, but it will not contain information that could directly identify you.

YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THIS STUDY IS VOLUNTARY
It is totally up to you to decide to be in this research study. Participating in this study is voluntary. Even if you decide to be part of the study now, you may change your mind and stop at any time. You do not have to answer any questions you do not want to answer. If you decide to withdraw before this study is completed, any data collected from you will immediately be destroyed.
