Cranmer House Care Home, Fakenham, possible closure! It seems Norse who run Cranmer are having "Consultations" with other organisations, Health chiefs plan to replace them with a “supported care service”, where community teams will care for people in their own homes.

North Norfolk Clinical Commissioning Group believes some people who are medically-fit are staying in hospital when they could be cared for at home.

Closing one of its Flagship Care Homes, regularly in the top 20 out of 1828 homes in the East of England! Why? always rated well by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) is responsible for the registration and inspection of social care services in England.

This will mean the loss of a 13 bed NHS Ward, STC for Respite Care, a re-enablement suite and an Independent Living Day Centre!

I'm sure most local people are aware of Cranmer House and its great reputation, and can only hope locals will get stirred up enough to try an oppose this!

A local Doctor said at a meeting yesterday that the Home was desperately needed and does a great job! The meeting was between Staff at the Home and their Employer Norse.

It seems the meeting was a rush job as apparently details had been "leaked" to the local press who asked for details from Norse, Norse asked the press to keep it quiet until they let the staff know! Makes me wonder if it had not been leaked when the staff would have found out?

Imagine one of your Parents or Grandparents coming out of Hospital being told they have to go home and can't have 24/7 care! Instead they have to have home care (oddly enough Norse deemed home care too expensive a few years ago) great if you can't get out of bed yourself to go to the loo between the hours of 10pm and 8am! Just lay there wet my lovely!

A public meeting is in the pipeline, as yet no details are known to the public.
