Most of us have had various whiskey barrel-aged beers and can understandably enjoy the benefits of this treatment. But having tried Straight To Ale's Cab Barrel-Aged Laika, Coastal Empire's Red Wine Midnight In The Garden and a few of Nebraska BrewCo's Chardonnay barrel-aged beers, I'm a huge fan of the complexities given to wine barrel aging. What are some of your favorite wine barrel aged beers? I'm looking for various beers styles aged in barrels of various wine types. Cheers!

Anchorage Love Buzz. Also drank a few Almanac Dark Pumpkin Sours this past year and really dug the vinous character in them.

Supplication by Russian River and School of Certain Victory by Modern Times were my favorites.

Although I just had "Winter Harvest" from Stone over the weekend. That one was in white wine barrels for 27 months! It was tasty but not at the level of the aforementioned two.

I will mention this one as there is a chance folks will get a chance to try it once Hudson Valley Brewery is sending out bottles, but the finest wine barrel aged beer I have tried is named Lilith. "J" and Mike who made this beer at Brewery at Bacchus are the brewmasters now at the new Hudson Valley Brewery.

I second the Cab Barrel-Aged Laika.

Yazoo recently released Never Again Ale (a Belgian Dark Strong). A great sour, still on some shelves here.

The only experience I've had with wine-barrel aged beer is this one. Quite good.
I've also had DFH Red & White, but that's merely fermented with pinot noir juice and aged in oak tanks, so technically doesn't fit the barrel-aged classification.

Any of the OEC Experimentalis series, all of them are aged in wine barrels. My favorite is Experimentalis with Peaches #3 aged in Perry Ximenez Sherry Barrels.

2nd Shift Chaotic Insecure Delusions is pretty awesome, as are most of their beers.

For me locally, Westbrook put out a few stellar 'wine aged' beers. One was Red Wine BA Mexican Cake ('13) and '14 Can Can (Belgium style quad aged 3 years in red wine barrels). Word on the street is that the 5th Anniversary Chocolate Rasberry Imperial Stout is aging right now in Chardonnay barrels. That one is scheduled to be released in December.
