MONROE, La. (AP) –  A jury has been seated in the trial of a man accused of illegally using the debit card of a woman stabbed to death in northeast Louisiana.

Ouachita (WAH’-shuh-taw) Parish Assistant District Attorney Neal Johnson says six jurors and two alternates were selected Tuesday in the trial of Quinton Tellis.

Tellis faces trial in Monroe for using a debit card belonging to Meing-Chen Hsiao and for marijuana possession. The Taiwanese woman was found stabbed to death in August, but Tellis isn’t charged in the death.

Tellis also faces capital murder charges in the burning death of north Mississippi teenager Jessica Chambers.

The trial is recessed until Thursday morning, when Johnson says opening statements will begin.

If convicted, Tellis could face a life sentence without parole because of previous felony convictions.
