  • TB Starting Pitcher #44
Pepiot struck out four and walked two on the evening but got no help from his offense. It wasn’t an overwhelming effort with a 22 percent whiff rate and 30 percent CSW, but Pepiot continued to pound the top of the strike zone with his four-seam fastball, which has been a big improvement now that he’s in Tampa. He simply didn’t have command of his slider tonight, keeping it up in the zone and missing his spots too often. He should be started against almost every opponent, including next week against the Brewers.
  • CHC Center Fielder #24
Bellinger made an early exit from Tuesday’s contest a couple innings after a collision with the center-field wall on fourth-inning extra-base hit from Yainer Diaz. He was seen holding his right side in the dugout on replays prior to exiting the contest. There should be an update on his status shortly.
  • CIN Shortstop #44
It’s been quite the beginning of the season for Elly, who is now slashing .295/.402/.641 with seven home runs and 12 steals. Honestly, the on-base percentage may be the most impressive number. After struggling with his plate discipline last year, the 22-year-old has made incredible strides in 2024 with 13 walks in 23 games. He will likely always run some high strikeout rates, but he is consistently putting himself in a position to do damage with better swing decisions and fantasy managers are reaping the benefits. If the plate discipline remains, there is no reason to think he’s not a first-round fantasy pick.
  • PIT Relief Pitcher #51
It was a perfect inning for Bednar, who didn’t allow a single baserunner and struck out one hitter. The right-handed was sitting 96.6 mph with his fastball and now has three scoreless performances in a row. The start of the season was rough, but Bednar has been one of the more reliable closers in baseball and should remain so this season.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #26
Falter had a shutout going into the eighth inning when he allowed a solo home run to Gary Sánchez as the first batter of the inning. That would be all for Falter, who was dominant on the day with a 30 percent whiff rate and 34 percent CSW. However, there was nothing special in his pitch mix on Tuesday. He threw 71 percent four-seam fastballs and averaged just 92 mph on them but still had 13 whiffs on 34 swings. It’s hard to project that to continue going forward, but the lefty lowered his ERA to 3.33 on the season and has a slightly above-average matchup on Sunday against the Giants.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #54
Fried was efficient from start to finish in this one recording the third Maddux of his career. He entered the ninth inning with just 84 pitches thrown, and needed only eight pitches in the ninth to retire the side in order. It was a much-needed solid outing for the Braves’ ace, who entered the day sporting a 7.71 ERA through his first four outings. Tuesday’s complete game marked the fifth of Fried’s career, while the shutout was the fourth he has thrown. He’ll look to follow up this outing with another strong performance on Monday against the Mariners.
  • CLE Relief Pitcher #48
Clase was summoned to protect a three-run lead in the final frame and wound up striking out the side in impressive fashion on just 13 pitches (11 strikes). He sat down Jarren Duran, Tyler O’Neill and Wilyer Abreu, all swinging, to preserve the victory. He’s concerted seven of his nine save opportunities this season and boasts a microscopic 0.75 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 13/1 K/BB ratio across 12 innings (12 appearances).
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #94
Unreal. Scott authored yet another brilliant performance in this one, retiring the final 18 batters he faced before being lifted at 85 pitches (55 strikes). The 24-year-old top pitching prospect has reeled off four consecutive stellar outings to open the year and boasts a sparkling 34/4 K/BB ratio across 20 2/3 innings of work. There isn’t exactly an opening for him in New York’s starting rotation, but he figures to make an impact for fantasy managers at some point later this year once he gets an opportunity.
  • NYM Catcher #4
The official timetable puts Alvarez’s potential return, barring any setbacks, at some point in mid-June. The 22-year-old backstop suffered the injury during last Friday’s contest when he slipped while rounding first base. It’ll be veteran Omar Narváez handling the catching duties for New York in his absence.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #47
Cueto latches on with the defending World Series champions after an underwhelming, injury-plagued campaign last year with the Marlins. The 38-year-old veteran righty will presumably head to Triple-A Round Rock to serve as emergency starting pitching depth and is unlikely to wind up making an impact for fantasy managers at this extremely late juncture in his pretty remarkable 16-year career that dates back to 2008.
