Job Description
Title: Food Pantry Manager at Calvary-St. George’s Food Pantry
Location: 271 Park Avenue, New York, NY
Estimated Duration: August 2011 – July 2012 (1 year)
Location: Calvary-St. George’s Church, 271 Park Avenue, New York City
Stipend: $250/Month

About Calvary Food Pantry
The Calvary Food Pantry is a vital and long-standing program for outreach into the broader community of Calvary-St. George's. About 100 men, women and children visit our door each week for a bag of non-perishable food to help them get through a weekend, when many weekday feeding programs are not available. Food is provided each year with aid from Partnership for the Homeless, the Emergency Food Assistance Program, and The Food Bank For New York City.

Primary Purpose of Job
To facilitate the Food Pantry program, which includes ordering food, coordinating pantry days on Wednesdays and keeping track of inventory.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
&nbsp&nbsp* Coordinating food deliveries
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp- Place online orders for pantry food from Food Bank and Partnership from the Homeless
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp- Arrange deliveries and be at the church to receive them
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp- Work with other staff at St. George’s food pantry to receive delivery
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp- Keep track of inventory
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp- Monitor quantity of food: pantry should be stocked at least two weeks out
&nbsp&nbsp* Volunteer Management & Pantry Operation
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp- Make food bags and manage client walk-ins with volunteers
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp- Set up pantry for operational hours
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp- Distribute food to clients and make bags for next week
&nbsp&nbsp* Record Keeping
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp- Keep a record of client’s information: name, agency, family size, referrals
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp- Keep weekly records (adults, children, elderly) total numbers monthly, submit to monthly reports by the 5th of every month
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp- Submit applications for Food Pantry funding in a timely fashion

Time Commitment (10+ hours/week for 1 year)
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp- Wednesday food distribution (12:00pm – 4:00pm)
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp- Ordering food, arranging for orders with the church, receiving orders, organizing the food pantry, updating Food Pantry stock, and keeping all paperwork timely varies (6 hours/week)
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp- Additional time needs to be dedicated to the Food Pantry when funding cycle paperwork is due
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp- Monthly Calvary Food Committee meeting (Second Wednesday of each month, 6:00pm – 7:00pm)
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp- Occasional external meetings and trainings

Qualifications
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp- BA/BS preferred (current college students eligible)
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp- Well organized, able to multitask and able to work independently when needed
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp- Excellent communication skills (clients, volunteers, other organizations…)
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp- Ability to meet deadlines and be punctual on a daily basis
