INTRODUCTION
“Welcome to Meria, the capitol city of Vengera! Let it be assured that you and your children will never go hungry if you take residence in one of the many districts. This is the city of the slumbering day, and the living night, and unarguably the safest place in all of the world.”

The message advertised to millions across the globe, you didn't flicker far into the channels without hearing it. A smiling female voice, friendly and unusually welcoming always spoke it. Or it was seen on posters, in magazines. It did seem like it was indeed the 'safest' place, with such high security and complex processes that were a requirement to pass the city walls.

It seemed almost perfect, the timing, as months before the advertisements began disappearances had happened in various small towns, which often went unnoticed, of course. Odd budget cuts and the like went disregarded as well in the new craze of the 'safest place in the world', people's solution became to move there.

Anyone who actually connected the dots were deemed conspiracy theorists and were seen more or less jokingly, because as far as the general population knew, they were living in luxury and the government was doing its best to help its people in the changing times. If anyone was deemed too vocal about their theories, they were seen as disrupting and sometimes delusional, often being taken away...or disappearing themselves.

Some have had nightmares about giant wolf-like creatures, and stone coming to life. It was later deemed a common dream, to imagine monsters, as common as dreaming you are falling or naked. However, why are most the dreams almost the same in every detail?

Recently, although, an oddity has occurred. The presence of an esteemed scientist and high-ranking member of parliament has vanished, and there was no word about it. It seems as if he never really existed.

PLOT/SCENARIO

But hey, guess you want the truth behind it all, eh? The government of Vengera is, unknowingly to most of the public, composed of vampires. All areas of authority is crawling with those magical blood-drinkers, and even in media – to be honest, they're so deeply embedded into society that they could be absolutely anyone.

Unfortunately for you, the vampires go to any length to keep their secret. And now that you know, your only hope is to run. Do keep in mind, that vampires love stalking those who walk alone. So what does that leave you? Perhaps you could find others like yourself, or, maybe if you are truly lucky, one of those fabled hunters to protect you.

Your problem is finding and perhaps joining others.

STARTING ROLES

Note: These are roles you can start in, but through role-play it is actually possible to achieve these roles beyond the starting limit. It's actually encouraged to role-play out your character's development instead of just starting out as something, and be open to events that may cause your character to have roles changed. Character development is quite fun.

Humans” – Unlimited: Humans that are aware of the existence of the vampires, or ones who are not and may learn later. Note that while you can have average humans who posses skills in martial arts and other fighting techniques, they cannot be vampire hunters but could possibly become one later in the role-play. If bitten, they could also become a vampire as well later in the role-play, but don't make an average human just to have them bitten or automatically become a hunter right off the bat.

Apprentices – Limited, ??: Humans who aspire to become vampire hunters, they are apprenticed to one. A vampire hunter can take up to two apprentices at max at once, but some may decide to take none at all. You need a hunter willing to apprentice you if you want to get in this position, which may also happen later in RP. You can have an apprentice with your own hunter, but only one. You are limited to playing up to three apprentices at once.

Vampire Hunters – Limited, 2 of 5 starting roles filled: Vampire Hunters are highly skilled in the trade of vampire hunting, and you are limited to one starting out. They may have advanced tech, or be traditional, or anything similar as long as it's not magical, and they have a decent knowledge about vampires. Most know some information about other skilled hunters, and there's usually a common knowledge known about certain hunters. However, they are rather secretive sorts and do not tend to show off their skill in the public eye, but do sometimes make mistakes. You can only start out with one of these.

Vampires – Limited, 2 of 10 starting roles filled: Vampires are magically-powered creatures, and rely heavily on the drinking of blood in order to survive. They are weak to sunlight and silver and anything blessed by divine providence, and may burn up rather quickly if too long in the sun. Of course, there has been precautions they use in order to ease the affect their weaknesses have on them, such as special cars and sunglasses – however, these are usually only temporarily and can sometimes only ease the effects. The longer they are a vampire, the less they have to feed. They are ageless, but can be killed by injuries and such. Most do not have healing abilities. Up to 2 starting vampires per person.

THE RULES

  • Be respectful of other RPers and the rules, do not join if you do not like the rules or the way the role-play is ran. This role-play was founded by Wild and Crystal Dragon. This also includes ignoring characters, just don't do it if it's something that breaks no rules and the character is near yours.

  • If you do not have permission to control a character, including killing a character, of someone else, do not do it. Do not dictate anyone's actions beyond what the RPer has already written their character is doing, of course, without their permission. When it comes to killing, while we do not allow people to just kill off your character, please be realistic when in battles and such, even if this is rather a fantasy role-play there will always be a level of realism, specially pertaining to injuries and such.

  • Try to creative when you role-play, avoid posting things such as “Name sits down.”, and do not use that to just bump the topic.

  • In addition to the realism aforementioned, vampires will tire using magic and cannot use it forever, even if some are rather powerful. Your other characters will tire too, as average humans are likely to tire easier than vampire hunters and apprentices, unless they are rather athletic and such. Your character will not know all that is going on, even the vampire hunters won't.

  • Guns are outlawed. There's basically none at all in the world that is near easily accessible, but it doesn't mean the vampires do not have them and that the humans couldn't also find guns.

  • If you wish to introduce a temporary side-character for a sub-plot with your character, please ask me first. I'm pretty welcome to any development of character, so I would probably be open to your sub-character plots.

  • Try to be active. You may face removal of your characters and such if you are not, we can't just hang on dead characters, unfortunately. Although! You can inform me if you are inactive and I may actually pause the RP after discussing with the others, but I can only pause for so long and please remember that. You are welcome to rejoin later if you please, but be sure you are caught up and if using characters that you had before, try to find a way to explain their absence if they were a part for some time.

  • This role-play allows romance of any kind, however nothing explicit is permitted. No "instant" love please.

  • This role-play may also allow gore from time to time, and please be mindful of that when joining.

  • Of course, the playing of NPCs are allowed and this will definitely occur in the role-play. Just don't overdo your NPC characters and remember that since they are Non-Player Characters, any player can possibly control then unless you've stated otherwise. Again, realism.

  • Your character is not perfect, always have flaws and virtues in mind when creating a character. It helps create a three-dimensional character and maybe even believable personality, even in a fantasy role-play.

  • Your humans will not have any magic. They can have tech, but remember that not everyone will have access to super-tech things.

  • No excessive OOC-only posts, please.

  • You can use characters that are based, or even are AU versions, of video game characters, anime characters and so forth. As long as they're human, or vampire, it's allowed. Just remember they are not suddenly "sucked" into the RP.

  • If you have any questions about the world, feel free to ask me!

VAMPIRE RANKS

In the world of the vampires, there are specific titles given to them. I'll explain what they are, what they mean and what ranks are currently filled here.

King/Queen: Basically, the one in charge of...almost everything. By no means a figurehead whatsoever, and is called the Leader as well by the humans. Some vampire hunters may give this vampire a snide nickname. This vampire is the leader of the government, currently.
Heir: The possible leader of the vampires if the King/Queen passes away, or the heir wins in a ancient challenge against the King or Queen.
Elders: King/Queens that have surrendered to their heir.
High Mages: The most skilled Mages, masterful of their magic but usually only specialize in one magic more than the other. They train the Mages and can share wisdom with them time to time. They are the King/Queen's last resort in emergencies, but may also prowl on their own. Are often disguised as humans rather professionally.
Mages: Ordinary Mages who are rather skilled and tend to specialize in a specific magic still, but know much less magic than the High Mages. They are basically the defence force of the King/Queen, and sometimes commanded by High Mages.
Apprentices: Apprentices to Mages, getting trained in control of their hunger and a higher grade of magic.
Fledglings: New vampires, very weak, likely sick and rather hungry. Changing can be a rather painful process.
Rogue: Vampires who have defected from the King are referred to as Rogues. Reasons for being such are about as varied as the Rogues themselves; anything from escaping a crime they've committed, refusal to serve the King, and even hating their own kind. A 'true' Rogue is rather rare, the more common ones are the humans who have been turned by the King's armies for various acts against him. Cast out as fledglings, they have mastered their magic and new vampiric abilities on their own.

CURRENT RANKS
King/Queen: Unknown.
Heir: Morgan Aumentare.
High Mages: 2 available.
Mages: Unlimited?
Apprentices: Currently none.
Fledglings: Currently none.

Rogues: John Traversea, Adam Smither. One available.

HUNTER KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge about hunters that other hunters may know by word of mouth.

Richter Belmont: Known as a relentless killer of vampires and monsters alike, his pursuits rarely fail. He works alone and does not team up with other hunters unless it is a dire matter of survival.

Aleks Forte Hargreaves: Known for mapping out some rather important vampire coves and for creating traps that sometimes do harm to more than just the target.

Name:Raizo Aumentare
Gender: Male
Age: 23

Personality:Creative personality, somewhat quiet, not afraid to speak out. Does not like to meddle in things he knows will get out of hand. Generally minds his own business, unless the issue is big enough for it to affect several people. Cares about others, but not to a fault or detriment. Dislikes tyrannical authority, believes in the right to live freely, but does not believe in anarchy.
Appearance:http://oi50.tinypic.com/2q81rly.jpg
History: Born in the city, the high security and 'life of luxury' was all Raizo knew. He'd heard of the outside and how 'terrible' it was from the mouths of those that moved into the city throughout his life. He had few friends growing up with an education that was very rocky. Usually he was one of the picked on ones in classes throughout highschool. Grown used to it, he didn't really care about how he was treated any longer. He accepted that somehow he was inferior, fighting those emotions even now. His father left when he was nine years old. He left his mother's home at 17 and went to live on his own, finding a way to make it. the government was not shy about wanting to help people like him make it either. The excess funds he obtained in order to live comfortably were used in other ways. You see, not everyone gets away unscathed from how they were treated growing up, especially without the lack of guidance. He started with drinking at 18, picked up the habit of smoking, then got hold of an anonymous source that sold him cocaine.
Other: Unknown

What do you do if you wish to introduce a temporary side-character?: (Ask the flippin GMs permission? O.o)

Oh OH Oh I wanna join : )

Name : Saffron Ryotaro
Gender : Female
Age : 17
Personality : Saffron is a strategist, always thinking of unique and smart ways to do soemthing, rather it is playing a board game or thinking of a way to get her books or a precious item from bullies. Saffron lives a quiet life, usually reading a novel or thinking of strategies to get soemthing accomplished. Her other passtimes include drawing some pictures or looking out at the clouds at dusk.
Appearance : [User Posted Image] (Credit to Artist, sorry if it's big :/ )
History : Saffron was born to a middle class family. She always grew up living off of hand-me-downs from her late older sister, Yumi. When Saffron was 15, her parents were fatally wounded. About five months later, her father died, and another month after that, her mother was able to come home but she died weeks after she went home. Saffron stayed at the house with her sister Yumi, but one day as they were walking home from school, Yumi was caught by a senior at a local school, he took advantage of Yumi and Yumi told Saffron to run and get the cops. When the cops had arrived, Yumi suffered a bludgeoned wound to the head and perished. Saffron went to live with her grandmother but when she saw the same broadcast off the nocturnal city, she began to be suspicious and think if this had any connection to the death of her parents as the police said there were, "Undiscovered" but Saffron knew that the Doctors were covering it up, not wanting her to know about it. Saffron now spends her time being creative and reading.
Other : Saffron seems to carry a grappling gun she found at a flea market and carries a giant notebook with a bunch of diagrams and charts and strategy papers in them.

Name: Echo Ferhson
Gender: Female
Age: 20

Mentor: Richter Belmont
Personality: Is a bit arrogant and hot-tempered, this can sometimes go to her head when battling and it doesn't end well when it does. There are uncommon times when she keeps cool; however this only happens when she’s around her mentor, if it happens at all. She is not shy; making her not afraid to speak what is on her mind. Echo has also developed a bit of a sadistic nature throughout her life. She keeps to her word and is strictly honest; she does not tolerate lies too kindly.

Appearance: Echo is at 5 feet and 6 inches tall. She has white hair with a greenish tint that goes to a little under her waist. Her eyes are a darkish blue and her skin is just a little pale. She wears a black button up long sleeve shirt, a grey trench coat over it, and black pants that barely touch the floor.

History: Echo grew up in a somewhat poor environment in a city far from the capital, usually having to steal in order to get food. She was an only child; her mother had abandoned her family so she had to grow up with her father through most of her life. Because she was poor, and only lived with one parent, some of the upper class people would torment her about it, which is the cause of her bad temper. She loved nothing more than seeing them get hurt, which was a spark in her sadistic nature. Echo surviving the somewhat harsh environment she grew up also caused her arrogance.
Her father was killed when she was 19; Echo heard that he had apparently owed the government of another city some money, and was taken away for not paying his debts, and was soon killed. Thinking death was a punishment too cruel for being in debt, she had come to think that something suspicious was happening. She traveled to the city, and during her time there, she had learned about the truth on the government, unfortunately they've learned that she knows the truth as well.

Other: She carries a small dagger that she bought on her way to the city with her, and keeps it hidden within her belt. Also, she’s not currently Richter’s apprentice, but will become one as the story progresses.

in character:
THE OPENING

Meria was alive. Lights flickered on, the spiralling skyscrapers that etched out the sky became luminescent signals – even those from afar could witness its glow. Yes, just like any night, Meria came alive. The streets went from vacant to full, the sidewalks crowded and the community inhabited in its entirety.

There have been whispers of someone – someone who had discovered something pretty important, pretty integral. The whispers are sparse, but those seeking freedom or truth are likely to hear them.
Find Adam Smither.”

ALEKS FORTE HARGREAVES

Stirring, it seemed, there was something stirring. The Vampire Hunter had watched them, with her advanced lenses, slither out of their cozy abode behind the second wall of Meria, they were searching for something, someone, likely to be in the multiples and there were way more of the bloodthirsty nuts than usual. It was always assumed that every breathing being coming from behind the secondary wall were vampires, and she had not many days where that assumption proved incorrect. Aleks watched from above, atop a skyscraper, her moss green eyes flickering from face-to-face, attempting to identify some of the suspected vamps – perhaps one of her targets were among them.

She had longed to break through the wall, but the security of it – the magical barriers all brought up and held, the amount of High Mages housed beyond the second wall made things impossible, nearly, for a lone hunter. The secondary wall looked as if it was less secure than the one that surrounded the entire city, as it was made out of yellowed bricks that had a few rather unsafe-looking cracks. Yes, it made it seem as if the government hadn't spent millions of dollars to create one of the most deadly defence system if one were attempt an attack, attempt to force their way in. Aleks had watched many fail. So, she had been forced to wait, wait for some of the most wanted targets - wait until they slithered out of their fortress. It would've been great if she had finished work on her crossbow, but that beauty was yet to be ready for any combat, it had to be perfected still.

However, something was indeed stirring – something larger than she had witnessed in some time. There were so many of them, it seemed, and the ordinary, ignorant, people noticed it as that at least something was going on. She decided, after a while, to follow a group of the vampires, see who they were hunting as she hunted them.

JOHN TRAVERSEA

It was his favourite place in the world.

Wait, no, that's not right.

Anywhere with coffee was probably his favourite place in the world.

Especially the places that served all hours of the day. You stay a while and you get surrounded by a bunch of caffeine addicts, casuals or people just coming to leech the wif-fi. You could tell them all, almost, sometimes the variables changed - sometimes certain people stopped going, or someone new started to come regularly. Visitors were mostly young adults, teenagers, elderly and most rarely there were children, it seemed as if parents came to some coffee lodges just to escape. Many left quickly, but those who remained were always the most interesting - especially when in a coffee lodge outside of Meria. John had grown sick of those, to be honest, however it wasn't his choice to be driven away from the former life within the city either...

Sometimes, you even get the fellow vampire. Well, at least when it came to John they were definitely fellow vampires. He had noticed, as he sat at his table with his - tenth? ninth? seventh? twentieth? - coffee. They came in as others exited, replacing them almost. He was slowly, ever so slowly getting surrounded and that deflated his mood a little. Since, there was a great potential something unfortunate were to happen and that would mean he wouldn't be able to visit this particular coffee lodge again. With a sigh, he kept his eyes on the coffee cup in front of it, a thousand signals going off in his head to fight or flight. It would be a while, although, until they all successfully and "quietly" surrounded him. He would have to use the fact that they thought they were being at least somewhat coy against them. He had memorized them, all their faces - all their routines and tendencies, he knew them and he could spot them, mostly. There wasn't anyone new, it seemed.

So began the waiting game.

Name: Maxwell Wilde (thanks wild)
Gender: Male
Age: 32

Personality: Max is friendly and enthusiastic. He is also independent, and holds freedom highly among the list of his virtues. But with this freedom-loving, his stubborn side appears and he often gives people a hard time if he doesn't agree with them. His opinions are not easily swayed. Max also has difficultly expressing when he needs help and describing how he feels emotionally.
Appearance: tall; brown eyes; unruly curly brown hair; wears a variety of ugly Hawaiian t-shirts, polos, and suits.
History: Like many other people, Maxwell's first word was "No". Though the word would remain persistent in his vocabulary as he grew. He repeatedly disrespected his elders in favor of his own goals. His parents, finally giving in to his stubbornness, let him go to College for an art degree.Though quite successful after graduation; critics gave mixed reactions to his art. Some despising it for the failure to comply with the rules, and others loving it for the same reason. He immigrated to Meria after hypothesizing that the supposedly safe environment would garner more artsy people.
Other: Has a rather strong dislike of the paranormal, carries a ton of art tools in his pockets, isn't a good fighter physically, and has a fair amount of good luck.

Holed up again. In his 'luxurious' little home, with nothing better to do than over think. Art paper covered the table, half sketched out and tossed aside, showing the half interest of the artist. Some had drops of sweat on them. This was the norm, for Raizo, combing his fingers through his dark hair out of nervousness.
He knew he needed it again, but he promised his now dead mother, after he heard she perished, that he would try and stop his habit. It more looked like it was killing him.

The sheet of paper under his hand was grabbed and crumpled easily followed by abruptly rising out of his chair. He decided he needed some fresh air, and went straight for the door, not bothering to lock it. It was a safe city after all.

The air did relieve the heat he felt on his skin, but that feeling in his body did not abate. Maybe just a little bit later...

Perhaps coffee is what he needed. Having four addictions at one was never good, but at least coffee was the least lethal. He thought of having a cigarette after getting some while he walked quicker than normal down the walkway. He felt on edge in the city - or was it just the withdrawal symptoms talking?
People seemed normal. Some had unique eye colors, which he assumed were contacts. Such a narrow oblivious world this young man had... soon he would have an unintentionally expanded horizon.

Maxwell T. Wilde was definitely in large trouble. His eyes had come upon the forbidden; and his ears had heard evil. And for this - he shall pay. He sat in the dark of a room, feeling tense, breathing as quietly as possible. Knowing his pursuers were near. The whispers and sound of feet became louder and louder. Then abruptly stopped. Light filled the room as they bursted in. One of them grabbed him by the shoulders and dragged him out of the hallway. He struggled underneath the man's strong hold as the man's accomplice pulled out a weapon - clearly a tool of severe punishment. Max's eyes widened.
"The nasty brush?! No! Mom, I hate the nasty brush!" Max whined as he squirmed to get free from his father.
"Exactly why she's using it! You don't get a choice in how we punish you." The father remarked sternly as his brows furrowed. "Anyway, what made you think it was a good idea to go into our room and take that tape?" he said with intensity.
"Well," Max looked back at his mom and the brush nervously "I was bored! A-and the tape had a cowboy on the cover! Why wouldn't I w-" he was silenced by a hard swat.
"It wasn't in the open for a reason, Max!" his dad said angrily "You weren't ready to know about that kind of junk."
"Why not? I can be ahead of all the other kids now!" Max retorted and was rewarded with another swat. His father sighed and shook his head. Then moved on to the next subject.
"You know that vampire-" Max immediately frowned at the 'v' word "-I told you about that lives with us? Well, that was his tape." his dad paused, thinking of something else to say.
The mother continued the parental lie "He hates it when people touch his stuff. Especially kids, if he's knows you've touched his stuff, he'll touch YOUR stuff and also - drink your blood."
"Well, the vampire is just dumb: and I think he should move out and suck his own blood." Max responded smugly.

SWAT

Max's hairbrush had fallen off the bathroom counter. The sound it made as it hit the floor brought him out the of memory. Strange, considering that the brush bore some resemblance to the nasty brush. He wasn't even sure why he bought it. Perhaps he subconsciously missed the days when he was led to think a vampire lived in his parents' home, and when he thought that babies were made by dressing up as a cowboy and riding a girl as a horse. He shoved the brush into a drawer, of course he didn't. He never liked vampires.

He stumbled out to the living room. From the window he could see the city coming to life. They preferred night to day here. It was strange, though he didn't really mind. He wasn't much of a morning person either. But some of the population seemed to be strictly night people. Some 'friends' he made during his stay here never came out at daytime at all! In his homeland he felt strange, but here he felt somewhat 'normal' compared to the Merians. They liked his art though.

"Goodnight guys" Rosalie said as she walked out of her workplace.
It was dark out. She started her ten minute walk to her small apartment in a neighborhood a block away. Her phone started to ring.
"Hello" She said as she answered it.
"Uh huh sure I'll be over tomorrow morning to pick it up" She said as she hung up.
"Why tomorrow?" She thought aloud. Tomorrow was her off day.
She continued her walk home as a cold breeze hit her face.

Echo squinted her eyes groggily as an immense light shined through her window into her room. She groaned in annoyance as she sat up on her bed and stretched, fully waking up from her short nap. I really hate this room, why did the landowner have to give me this room? There’s a lot of empty rooms but he had to give me this one. she thought in frustration.

When Echo entered the city a few months ago, she had no idea just what exactly she was doing. She was lost and had no home there, but nor did she back in the town she used to live in because the officials of that town took her house away. One day, she attempted to pickpocket a wallet from an older man, but was caught by him. After realizing the situation she was currently in, the older man decided to give her a room in his apartment, no rent charged for the first few times.

Echo stood up from her bed and walked over to her window to close the shutters. Her room was on the 3rd floor, and across from the apartment was a business building whose lights were all on the roof. The building is a little smaller than the apartment, but the lights still shine through Echo’s window, giving her eyes a rather unpleasant sensation. She walked over to the bathroom and gently brushed down her “bed hair.” She then walked near her window again; rather hesitant of looking out now that she had all her senses clear, since she doesn’t want to be blinded again. Rolling her eyes at the damned building, she put her boots her on and walked out of her room, feeling her pockets making sure there’s money in them. I’m going to have to hunt down a job again, maybe tomorrow. she reminded herself. The store she had previously worked at combined with another store and renovated itself, however she lost her job because there was less need for workers.

Echo began her walk to wherever her feet would take her. She had nothing to do at the moment, and she loved long walks, especially at nighttime. Her face brightened a little as she saw just how colourful the city seemed at night; nothing compared to how her old town was, which was rather dark even in daylight at times. After a few minutes of walking, she noticed some people with rather strange coloured eyes walking past her or driving around. Right. How inhuman. she thought. She quickened her pace a little, ignoring the hesitant feeling she felt when she looked or thought about them. Trying her best to ignore it, she looked around at the buildings. Even after being here for a few months, Echo was still fascinated at city life like this. Before she knew it, she realized that she was walking near the edge of town. I walked this far already? I guess you don’t pay too much attention to time when you’re enjoying something. Well…the apartment isn’t too far from the edge of the city, but still..

"Beautiful night, isn't it?" Morgan stood in front of his room's window, watching the city. He was surrounded by the allies he had made in these years, fledlings, mages, apprentices, the allies who supported him as heir.
"Indeed, sir, it is quite beautiful night." one of the mages said, nodding to Morgan in sign of approval.
Morgan turned to look at this mage, serious expression in his face. "Any signs Kagra?" Before anyone could reply, he saw what the answer was going to be from the expressions on the faces of his allies. "Very well..." He sighed. "What about Traversea? Someone must have seen him in the streets, seriously." Still not getting any reply from his allies, Morgan sighed again. "Go in there.... Find them..." The vampires rushed out, leaving Morgan alone with the mage who previously talked to him.
"Do you think they will be able to find them?" Mage asked, looking at Morgan, questioning.
Morgan looked back at the mage, then back outside from the window. "Maybe, maybe not. All I care right now is about becoming stronger, would be a shame if Leader would be stronger than me in the challenge..."

Saffron had been sitting on the couch in her room. The book in her hands read "A World Once Torn." This had been about her seventh time reading the 683 page book. After she finished reading through a large number of chapters, she decided to turn on the radio. About twenty seconds into the song a message had begun and kept repeating left and right saying,"Welcome to Meria, the capitol city of Vengera! Let it be assured that you and your children will never go hungry if you take residence in one of the many districts. This is the city of the slumbering day, and the living night, and unarguably the safest place in all of the world." This had all been too strange and too much to comprehend for Saffron, she turned off her radio and lied on her futon. "What is going on?" was the only thought in her mind. The telephone had rung, and Saffron had jumped out of futon and ran downstairs to pick it up. An eerie voice on the line was hesitant, but after awhile she heard this message, "...we are coming..." The call was very disturbing, the voice was definently a man. Saffron was completely scared. Saffron grabbed a dufflebag and packed her favorite book, some clothes, two flashlights, and her grappling hook, the final item was her notebook, she never forgot it, and never would. "Time for me to get out now!" Saffron began running to Meria in hopes of finding a safe haven... at least she hoped.

Rosalie made it home. She sat down in a chair by the fire and drank a glass of Hot chocolate while she read a book. "I love this book but too bad the author disappeared" She said to herself. She felt a small pain through her body. It was the sickness. It was starting to occur more often when she had the pain reactions. That time when she was out with her friends. When she was at the bar. At work and now here. She couldn't stand the pain. She walked to her bathroom and took a painkiller. She drank a glass of water and crawled into bed. She lighted a candle and began to read again as the effects of the pain killer came in. She felt relaxed and very sleepy. She soon shut her eyes and began to sleep.

OOC: Posting this graciously unfinished post to say that, yeah it's okay that you post outside of order before I 'set' it, and it will be a general guideline anyways. However, when it comes to a lot of characters interacting with each other at once, I recommend you try to stick to some kind of order.

Try not to make it so that people who rely on what you write in order to determined interaction have to catch up to all your posts suddenly. Also, I will be creating small summaries of the RP as it grows so people who jump in later (and just other people in the RP in general) may know what's going on...without having to read everything.

I apologize for the misunderstanding I may have caused and I hope you, Vikky J, will continue posting and that those does not deter you from RPing here. Some people just don't have a lot of time on their hands, but just enough to role-play from time to time, and it becomes quite concern to them.

ALEKS

"Forte could barely remember."

"Forte could barely remember."
Aleks Forte Hargreaves could barely remember the days they had began to build the walls, the days her family was herded into the new main residential district, and yet it rested with her from time to time. It was what had, unknowingly, pushed her, and it was for rather selfish reasons at first that she began a hunter, she was more or less a spoiled brat pulling a temper tantrum. There was such a learning curve, although, and she slipped through the cracks, past the oppressors which valued the heads of vampire hunters. They were keen to dispose of them before they ever really developed their skill. She had many contacts, but none of them were other hunters - she would only hear of them and watch them from afar, they were keen on keeping themselves secret, and those types were always the only ones truly worth mentioning.

She was nearing the general area people lived, give or take a few different sectors which also housed people, as she followed one lone vampire. Aleks came across another gaping hole in between her and the roof of her destination, and she would make a mistake. She reared up and jumped, her breath somewhat laboured from all the travel, but she was tolerant of this all, she had done travelled above many times. It was her main source of transport, and it was potentially less deadly than on the ground, as well with a better perspective, if one was to be careful. However, her mistake was, when she landed on the other roof was her ignorance of a statue - a gargoyle. It seemed merely a piece of architecture, a deformed-looking creature with a mixture of human along with draconian wings, but as soon as she began walking across the roof - it shifted. A hiss, and the sound of cracking as the creature broke free of its attachment to the building, and she had turned around instantly.

Pressing her thumb against her ring finger, the senors in them sent a signal to her shoes to prepare activation. The creature moved forward, spreading its wings and attempting to take flight, but the creature constantly stumbled. She knew that someone would've noticed the creature, that unfortunately she might've brought attention. Sighing, she stepped backwards, watching the creature's attempts at flight it seemed defective. Despite this, if she wished to do harm to anything with as thick of a hide as a gargoyle, the only blades that could remotely cause damage that she had at the moment were the ones hidden in her shoes. She also knew she had to get off this certain roof.

Moving quickly, she jumped again, coming to a rough landing that caused her to stop briefly. A shadow crossed over her, whether it was flying or jumping wasn't clear at first. The gargoyle landed in front of her, its claws tearing into the concrete. She pressed her thumb to her ring finger on her right hand, activating the censors again. And then she kicked it in the neck, blades whirling from the edge of her left shoe suddenly, tearing up the gargoyle's throat and then going through it. The blades from her shoe retracted and she placed her foot on the ground. Its head dropped to the ground, and so it kept moving.

Every single time she had crossed the specific roof the gargoyle was located, it never came "alive". Not once, had it came alive. This was only indicating that they were expanding further. You never heard of gargoyles in the city, really, they were mostly on the outskirts if anything. But in the city like this, on top of a hotel, a roof where she knew people came to on a daily basis? She let out a cuss under her breath due to the realization, and watched as the beheaded creature nearly tore up the ground. It stopped. She ran.

Perfection, it seemed, had been attained in this city. Or should it be put, that this city had reached Utopian standards? Only to the truly blind would it be considered perfect, and I mean physically blind. The city was a fortress to be sure, in the way it was built, but it was not a perfect city physically. Often Raizo would find a few bricks here and there along the walkway near the walls, from walls that betrayed an older look. But they government kept their promise... for the most part. With how suddenly his mother had died, he couldn't help but have a suspicious feeling in the pit of his stomach. Heart attack, they said. But his mother did not have a weak heart, and she was only 45 years old. He hadn't seen the body, but he had visited the house after her death a few times. It stood empty now.
His dark hair mostly covered his face in the night, but the lamps that lit the streets still showed some of his hidden features. The night was not cold but he still wore his thick cloth coat, with his hands in his pockets. Shadows and dark circles under his eyes made them look more tired.
He passed a few people on the walk, some acted quite unsociable, others were friendlier. He barely paid them mind. The friendly ones he made eye contact with, maybe a slight smile, but he had other things on his mind. He did not even notice when two young women passed, one said hello to him, and when he walked past, she turned around to stare because she was so struck by his rare eye color.

What am I going to do with myself. his thoughts stared to take him away and his walking went into automatic mode, so to speak. I'm low... but I promised myself I wouldn't go back to them. I don't even know their gender because of the mask they wear with the voice twister.... but- he pressed his lips. This fight inside again. For the next 5 minutes while walking, not even aware of the direction of streets he was taking, he argued and made excuses in his head about how he had to find his contact, or he'd have other severe issues to deal with, like withdrawal. You can't do this anymore, you dont even know where to meet them right now. But maybe if I check my old alley rendevouz... ah, here it is. He was walking towards it and he didn't realize it. Looking down, he checked over his shoulder and walked into the alley, then turned the corner to the left into the adjacent alley. ...they aren't here. Guess I'll just----
The daze he had been in was slowly shaken loose while he had turned the corner into the adjacent alley, and noise yanked him out of his thought process. The noise was coming from above. A fight?
He recalled he'd heard a hiss and some foot scuffling a few moments before. Then he saw something fall off the roof?

He sidestepped rapidly not knowing what the object was. Nor was he prepared for what it was or what it belonged to. He took a step back and hugged the wall, mortified, taking in the image, hearing destructive scratching above yet, and looked up, then back to the head.

He swore he head the sound of someone running, as soon as he started to, back out of the alley to the streets. The event was too much to take in as fear overtook him.

"Ah, where is that key?" Max hissed as he shoved a hand down into his sofa. He was a tad hungry and had some money in his pocket today. So tonight, perhaps he could go out to a restaurant to eat food crafted by hands far more talented than his own. He bit his lip as he tried to repress the memory of him cooking spaghetti last week. The searching hand came into contact with the lost key, he sprang up from the couch and swiftly shoved the item into one of his pockets. Whipping his head to the right, he took one last glance at the city view. It occurred to him that the city would look nicer without the surrounding walls. After a long while living here, it started to remind him of his claustrophobia. Of course, the city was very safe, but closed-in walls have never been a good thing symbolically.

He locked the door behind him as he strolled into the night. The nearest restaurant was a few blocks away. But he did not feel like going there after an employee straddled him and aggressively tried to kiss him. They were probably fired, but something in his mind screamed NO, NEVER AGAIN. He was sure he could walk another few extra blocks to another restaurant. He enjoyed walking. Many people walked the streets, and it was unusual for him not to strike up conversation with someone and make a 'friend'. Max had many friends, perhaps too many. If all the 'friends' he had were a body of water, they would be the Atlantic Ocean. Although it gave him the perk of acquiring information from people when the news was being vague. Which it often was.

A small breeze was flying through the air. Echo’s eyes half closed in pleasure as she breathed in the delicious smell of food around her, being carried by that same breeze. There were quite a few restaurants in the streets she was walking through, and the smell is rather irresistible for anyone who comes through the area. I’m surprised that there’s still quite a community here, even though it’s near the edge of town. You’d expect there to be factories or poor houses in normal cities, but I guess not here. she thought. The smell of the food surrounding her began to remind her how empty her belly felt.

Echo stopped walking, and looked around. She tried not to catch the eye of anyone else that might by walking by while doing so, especially the man who seemed to be walking in the same direction as her for the past several blocks, though she shrugged him off when she saw that he continued walking as she stopped. Echo frowned at the feeling of her hunger, I have to choose which one out of all these restaurants? Really? She began to walk again, though doing so rather slowly this time, and continued looking at the buildings around her. Though now with a little more thought and realization, all of these restaurants are the kind that would serve rather expensive food, Echo didn’t bring too much money, and judging by the looks of the buildings around her, she wouldn’t have enough to pay for a good meal. Perhaps there would be a less expensive food service farther out. I can’t even decide what would be good to eat here; it’s too late to eat something such as a steak or a grilled burger...but I’m really hungry right now…Well, maybe if I find a less expensive place to eat at, I can order a sandwich or two…or…Well, whatever I see that catches my interest and stomach that is... she thought as she began to walk her normal pace, faster than a normal walk but not exactly speed walking. She had a rather haunting feeling though that would come and go through her. She looked around once more, and something caught her eye as she turned her head back. She could’ve sworn that the man who was walking the same direction she was, the man who had continued walking ahead of her, was just behind her. However, when she turned her head, it looked as if he quickly walked to the side, in an alley between two restaurants. Echo narrowed her eyes, keeping her guard up, she walked a little quicker.

Morgan froze for a while. He could swear he had heard something moving outside. It could have been fellow vampire, vampire hunter, or then just civilian being harassed by someone, or something. Should I check it out? He wondered, watching outside from the window. Why not? It is not like I would be killed or anything... Morgan chuckled to himself as he put his fedora on, leaving his apartment.

On the elevator, way down, Morgan noticed one of the gargoyles was missing from the building next door. That was when he started to worry a little. If it was a vampire hunter, he would probably have to move in to new apartment, not wanting to risk his life as the heir to the throne.

Saffron had been walking for what seemed hours to her. Her feet were aching and sore, with blisters left and right. But, she had finally made it to Meria. It looked scary in the shadows of the moonlight and she felt as if she wasn't going to be as safe as she thought she was after all, the moon gave it an eerie feel. She entered anyway, knowing of any possible risk she may have had. All fear was in front of her now, feeling as if at any given time, someone or something would get her. Wandering around the city for a few hours, she noticed some building in the distance, she didn't know if it had the lights on or if it was a trick of the light, either way, she held her flashlight and braved the trail to the ominous building.

aleks forte hargreaves; So, she was in a predicament that required further measures. Aleks slipped down into an alley, which was an extensive distance from the location she fought the gargoyle. Weary, she reached her hand into a specific garbage bag in the alley and pulled out a mapper, tapping the screen a map of the nearby area displayed. The senors hadn't detected anything unusual, but her nerves were much more on edge than usual considering that...event. It made her fear she had been compromised after all these years. Sighing, she took the mapper with her and stepped carefully out the ally. One could confuse the mapper for some kind of touch tablet – as it was indeed kind of built out of one, just altered quite a bit along with the addition of an application she developed for the specific purpose of recording layouts and so forth.

!! ------------------------->

It had retrieved its head, putting it back on its body. The image of a man was clear in its memory. Was this the one who had ripped its head off? The stone gargoyle made him a target, confusing him for the hunter it had just attacked. It sniffed the air, the scent was fresh. Climbing back up the buildings, it stalked the yellow-eyed human as if a starved predator.

<-------------------------- !!

It was crucial that she'd retrieve the required equipment for taking down the likes of a stone gargoyle, the creature would do massive damage if it were to run rampant on the city. More people were at danger every second it was prowling, as the vampires would be likely to mess with the minds of anyone who would've possibly witnessed the creature. They would be able to tell who saw it and such if they were to capture, putting her in danger and others, of course. No, it would be pretty awful if they were to figure her out...all her contacts...sighing, she continued on the sidewalk and entered a rather aged down hotel. It looked almost Gothic in appearance, and generally fancy in its architectural design, but faded - neglected. It had a bit of an authentic beauty to it, despite often being over-looked by those who lived in their fancy homes and visited their fancy restaurants and coffee lodges.

The carpet was a faded tomato-red, and classic instrumental music was playing. The lighting was rather good. She nodded at the person behind the desk and walked on into a main hall. At the end of the hall was a spiralling staircase that went both upwards and downwards, and when she arrived at it, she quickly went downstairs. Walking down yet another hallway, she stopped at a room and knocked on the door. The eye-hole slide open and a blue-grey eye peered at her. The eye-hole closed and the door creaked open. Aleks stepped backwards, and then entered quickly. The other person closed the door and locked it behind her. Aleks rushed past a bed on the ground with a TV on cinder-blocks in front of it. The wallpaper was slowly peeling off, revealing cold stone walls. The hotel was a dwelling of the minimalists, a group of people who specifically chose to live this way, it had been converted into apartments but the old hotel traditions, oddly enough, remained.

Opening a closet, she entered it and into her base.

Several startled faces surfaced out of the street crowd. It was to be expected, someone was running or moving quickly through the crowd, and he'd come from an alleyway. Generally when a situation like this occurred, it either meant someone was in trouble with the law which was a rare occurrence and worthy of gawking at for the thrill of watching a chase, or they were really running from something frightening. No one could tell if it was either one. But Raizo did not care if the whole street was watching him, nor if window watchers were there. The memory of the face of the monster kept him running for a good mile through the streets before he slowed, checking behind him a few times.

But the repose from his frightened run did not last long. Lost in his thoughts about the events of minutes ago, distraction kept his mind from noticing something that was happening. People behind him noticed something moving on the rooftops, but it wasn't a direct sighting they were getting. They thought it was a civilian being very reckless in their behavior, and only pointed with murmuring.
Those eyes... that face. It seemed so alive. Like it could get up and attack me if it had a body. How did the head end up on the ground anyway? Who cut it? It didn't appear to have fallen off... the scuffling above... I wonder....?
Too many questions. if he really wanted answers, which he did, he would go check it in the morning when no one was around since the streets were dead in daylight.
The noise he heard now was not quiet any longer, it was loud enough to notice even in his crucial thinking mode. For a second his eyes darted around briefly at the rooftops ahead and he tried to resume thinking, but scuffling sound to his left and behind him coming from above forced him to stop and turn around out of sheer paranoia, a sit sounded like the same sound he heard in the alley.

It was.

His face drained of color and he suddenly could not feel his heartbeat because of the sheer speed it accelerated to. He couldn't believe his eyes, but there was no mistaking the head of the creature on the roof above him, it was close enough to recognize but still far enough away from him to call it a stalking style of approach. The way it stared at him with unblinking eyes made him take a step backwards, he pivoted on his left foot quickly enough to stumble on an uneven brick, recovering his misstep before fall and was running again. He looked over his shoulder a couple of times, but he wasn't outrunning whatever it was. A stone gargoyle, it looked like now. Inanimate objects, and yet here was one that was moving! Intent on catching him! Likely with the intent of killing him. Did the government know of this?! Did they realize witchcraft likely had caused a stone pillar to come to life? Now it wasn't as obvious to what the thing was to other passerby, since Raizo had got a good look at it before. It moved too fast for more than a surprised stare from onlookers who likely assumed it was a real animal set loose.

I have to get to cover...! He knew he passed a few restaurants, a run down hotel, and apartments, but he didn't pay attention where he was. He didn't care if it wasn't his neighborhood, he just needed to get to cover before heaven-knows-what happened to him. A few unlucky people received a shove from him to get them out of his way, and he was too breathless to apologize, not that he really was sorry.

Max was stopped in his tracks by a sudden and rough push. After regaining his posture, he twisted his body to watch the black-haired man scurry down the street. He shrugged in apathy.

"Hmm, he must be late for something" Max mumbled to himself flatly.

He turned back and only walked one step forward before he heard sounds coming from above him -- they were highly ... unpleasant. His body stiffened, and the hairs on his neck rose up. The sounds were following the man as he ran. It could have been considered a most normal noise -- but other senses filled him with a feeling of dread. Something was wrong about it. The night became cold as he continued to stand in the street, bewildered.

When is the last time I can join?
You can join before we reach page five or when we do, any time after that is too late unless otherwise stated. It's not definite that we will no longer accept new people, but it's much less likely we will.

NEW WORLD INFORMATION
Brought to you by players' questions

1. There is a lot of public transportation, much like in places in Europe. There are barely many cars on the roads, and mostly the most "privileged" get cars - AKA vampires or rich humans. Cars are deemed "too dangerous for ordinary peoples", but that's only what they say. There's more to it, such as the vampires fearful of being ran over.

2. Restaurants - and yes, definitely delicious pizza joints - do exist in Meria. For simplicty's sake, Anichese and Ylaitian = Chinese and Italian. You're free to ivent other words for different types of restaurants, but do tell me! Vengera is very similar to Earth...

3....and may seem modern, however the world is actually far more technologically advanced than that. It's just that it is "suppressed" from the public, but yes, fancy tech does exist, especially in Meria, but "ordinary" people may never get their hands on it. It seems as if the vampires keep the time stuck in a world similar to modern day earth for the public, for their "safety".

4. The architecture is mixed with Georgian, modern North American and French. Some buildings are more fancy and fortress like, and there's of course the types you'd definitely expect to see gargoyles on. So yeah, imagine some Victorian and Queen Anne, and some others, but mostly a hybrid of North American and such. The types of architecture are obviously not called that, but look them up when you have the time to get a better idea of how Meria looks.

5. The vampires in Vengera definitely aren't "dead", they have heartbeats and need to breathe to live. However, it's difficult to eat and drink "normally", as blood is their prime source of nourishment, and is the only they really need, and can cause sickness or some strange side-effects. The pigments in their eyes change when they turn, changing to some colours deemed unrealistic, mostly red or pink - think of albinos here.

However, even if less rare, vampire eyes can be pretty much any colour - naturally or not, and humans here are sometimes likely to have odd eye colours, especially if they have some vampire in their blood somewhere. Some may experience strange behavioural problems after they change to vampire and some may not, but something usually shifts inside a person's mind.

6. Weapons. Guns are hard to find, but not all weapons outlawed. People may be capable of crafting them themselves, and those fortunate may be able to find a weapons maker, a tech expert - or perhaps be one themselves. However, things aren't cheap. Sometimes people have to do errands and favours to get things, which are often more or less risky. Some people stumble upon them. It's a matter of chance and being in the right place and at the right time, sometimes, as with everything.

Any more questions? Feel free to PM me!

Echo was so focused on her suspicious thoughts that she almost didn’t notice a noise that was coming from the roof of a building not too far from her. Without stopping, she looked upwards towards the right, it was a bit too dark to see from her angle, but she defiantly heard something. Was that…running? she wondered in confusion, Recklessness, in this place? She was still skeptical whether she really hear running or not, she did just wake up from a nap not too long ago after all. Though that creepo sneaking around with me surely woke me up 100% she thought narrowing her eyes a bit. Would that running have to do with the man walking with m-No that can’t be it, people just can’t jump onto a roof and get so far ahead in less than a minute.. She shook her head and tried forgetting what happened and ignore her uneasy feeling. She immediately walked towards her left and onto another street. Maybe I’m still not fully awake, some coffee should help. And with that she began her hunt for a café. Echo didn’t feel as hungry now as she did when she woke up, so it would feel awkward to go to a normal restaurant and to just order a coffee; so a place where ordering just a coffee and a small order would be fine. Maybe then she could get her thoughts together and think clearly on what just happened around her.

Finally the elevator stopped. Morgan walked outside from the building, looking around. No one.... Morgan wondered, looking around with his eyes narrowed. He was sure he had heard someone outside, besides, the gargoyle outside his apartment was missing. Someone, who would have managed to disturb the gargoyle, had been there, and Morgan wanted to find out who it was. He walked to his garage, opening the door of his car's backseat.
Just in case... He grabbed his knife belt full of knives, his favourite weapons, they always have been. Then he grabbed two of his silenced pistols, he didn't want to make too much of a noise.
"I believe I'm ready now..." Smile on his face, he left to search for the lost gargoyle and the pesron who disturbed it.

Saffron had looked up at the eerie building that stood in front of her. The sign was supposed to spell out Hotel, but it seemed that the darkness and poor lighting made it spell Hell. "I can do this, I have to." Saffron had said to herself. She pushed the creaking door open but it seemed to have something on it, rather it was rust or not, Saffron didn't want to know. She walked up to the front desk and rung the bell... No answer. "Huh, I wonder where everyone went, if there is anyone here." She told herself. She looked around the dim-lit lounge. She pulled out a flashlight and turned on the glowstick mode. In the midst of the blue light emitting from her glow-stick, she thought she saw a swift shadow dash from behind a counter. "Hello!?" She asked. Saffron quickly pulled out another glowstick, this one red and threw it across the room onto the floor, lighting up more of the room. The shadow had moved again. "What is going on here!?" She panicked. She hastily grabbed a third glowstick that was purple and threw it on the couch. Half of the room was shining with color. "This thing can't run without being seen now." She shouted. "I know somebody or something is here. Show yourself!" With a mighty lash, something dashed through a window. Saffron grabbed her glowsticks and went outside to check, nobody was in sight. She put all but the red gowstick in her pack and went down the street.

OOC: To make up for the wait and the terrible post (I suspect plenty of grammar mistakes), I'll probably end up drawing your characters for you...I know, it's not much. :n

IN CHARACTER

How could she had let the creature slip through her fingers so easily? It was frustrating, downright frustrating and the implications of such an event as a gargoyle suddenly appearing - a stone gargoyle, no less - along her usual route... Cabinets opened and shut, metal shifted and she shook her head as she fumbled around for the right tools. The creature's hide was tough, of course, being made out of "stone", but she did have a few tools which could strike the creature down... after all, it had trouble flying, moving at all and stone gargoyles never had much brains anyways. No, stone gargoyles were among the first creatures made by the vampires, and making them involved plenty of shady techniques in which she was still studying. It was some kind of magic, no doubt, but what the government was playing with was far more than their tricks...it was playing so closely with creation itself, but it had to involve manipulation somewhere, no? She refused to believe they were capable of "making" things out of material that was otherwise dead. Afterall, the other variations bled...heavy mutations like some other vampires showed, perhaps...?

Click, she found it. A thin smile arose her lips as she picked it up and her eyes sparked up a little more. It wouldn't be hard to lead it into one of her traps, no? It would be so bent on killing what it was designed to kill,of course, and that being those who opposed the government. Perhaps stone gargoyles were made out of vampires afterall, but it was troubling to believe something so stupid could be borne out of one...no, it was likely to be "early" vampires of some sort. She had figured this a while ago. It was somewhat embarrassing, and more importantly unprofessional, being in the city and yet not knowing of the origins of the stone gargoyles...the vampires hardly used them here, actually. This was a relatively odd occurrence, a drastic variable in an otherwise repeated sequence. She rushed to replace her boots and update her fingertip sensors. Placing a peculiar looking band around her wrist, she stepped back - taking in a deep breath - and looked around at the mess of her "base". Oh, how she would miss it, but she was more or less used to it - there was no such thing as "home" to her anymore, really.

She would have to get out of the city after this, carrying as much as she can. It was not quite "tricky" to escape if you weren't carrying a bunch of weapons and high-tech with you like Aleks Forte-Hargreaves, but she had an escape route in mind...several, actually. She did map the city, afterall...but outside of it? Aleks was almost always blind when she travelled out of the city. She would have to find someone, another Hunter or one of her sources...but she feared that anyone she once knew living outside Meria were compromised somehow, no doubt there were a few compromised inside Meria.

And so, she went on the hunt.

!! ------------------------->

It was almost there...its claws dug into the ground now as it leaped, causing cracks in buildings and noise to rumble everytime the heavy creature impacted the ground. Its wings unfurled, creating some sort of balance - some sort of effort to add order to its jump, stability...of course, it wasn't much and much wasn't to be expected of this creature. It was on a one-track mind - as its mind was pretty much one-track, and it was to find that human...oh, it was so close to the human...

The human was running, of course that only made the creature even more focused, if there was ever such a thing as "even more focused" for the early experiment. Cries, screams and all other noises but the human's breathing, the human's fear, was muffled. It could hardly recognize noise save for its target, cursed to have such specific and in turn, limited senses.

And so, it leaped, its claws spread open as it launched itself with all its force at the human.

<------------------------- !!

The atmosphere was syrup. He could sense the flickering of their abilities, and the familiarity of some faces - faces he dare not look at directly - was somewhat unerring to him. They sensed it, of course, but it wasn't like his nerves weren't shot a long time ago, hm? Sighing, John Traversea took another sip of his coffee. The clock in the cafe was unbearably loud, or perhaps the ticking was all in his head - he couldn't always tell with situations like this, as he was waiting, on edge. His grey eyes lazily outlined a stain on a wall, which was next to an historical painting of a building, and under that stain was one of the few purely human faces. Oh, he wondered if they would attack with humans still in the building...he knew it was certainly not below them, of course, his former acquaintances and friends.

There has to be a place to hide! By now he’d passed the places that were mentioned previously, and it was more residential… a little more run down too, he had turned a corner to hopefully throw the pursuit off.

Even though it was dark, Raizo could see very well in dim light. This was the only advantage he had in this situation. After he turned the corner he saw a doorway for what seemed like a decent apartment, he couldn’t tell if anyone lived there – he hoped not, but even if there was someone there, at least they could call for help and block the door.

He ran towards the door so quickly it stopped most of his momentum with a decent THUMP as his hands went for the knob, tried to twist it, and banged on the door with his left fist. It wouldn’t open.
Goddammit! Open!! Coming to a stop knowing he were pursued increased his anxiety, and he was almost losing his concentration for dizziness setting in. “Hello?! Is anyone there!?!”

There was no reply. He tried to force the door open, but he was in no condition to force a door’s lock to break even if he was filled with adrenaline from the chase. The withdrawal symptoms were weakening him in that way.
He finally checked behind him for pursuit, why hadn’t he done it sooner? Noises got progressively louder, it almost sounded like it wasn’t on the roof anymore.

It wasn’t. Somewhere along the way he didn’t noticed it had jumped off the roof onto the ground, disrupting buildings significantly as it went. There went many people in this area, in fact the last person he saw was a bit back, and he’d pushed him out of the way. The only other people that he hadn’t seen were those that cried out in fear and scattered when they saw the creature. It was bigger than he thought. Almost like his feet were rooted to the ground, he couldn’t move for a few moments, seeing it on the ground.

In that moment Raizo choked back a want to swear in fear, and it twisted into a cut off cry of fear, breaking free of the frozen state he’d been in a moment before, and he started running again. But not before stumbling into the run, because it was so close now, he didn’t care how he got away from it, he was only trying to get away. The stumble caused him to fall on his hands and knees before scrambling up again. His pants tore, and he cut his hand on the ground on a sharp rock, unluckily.

One more time, hearing the creature’s sounds of pursuit close, he checked over his shoulder when he got up and got momentum.
It was close enough to scare anyone into seeing their life flash before their eyes, among other things too that is unsavory to mention. He saw it bunch it’s limbs and…stony muscles?...or whatever they were, and lift off the ground in a lunge, NOT a run like before.

He had a fraction of a second to decide how he would die – letting it land on his back and kill him, or turning to face it and fight uselessly.

Without a conscious choice he turned his body to take the impact from the front. All it’s force knocked all wind out of him, but the delay at feeling the pain was not as long as he’d hoped the adrenaline would last, feeling himself hit the dirt ground, somehow not hitting his head – which was worse.

His stone pose was broke by a shiver going up his spine. The eerie aura that had suddenly forebode him had killed his hunger of food. A hunger of information replaced it, like a dead goldfish. Turning in the direction of the man who ran, he began to walk yet again. Though he was particularly unsure as to what the man's reaction would be if Max actually caught up to him and starting interrogating him about the strange noises following him. Yes, hello there sir, did you hear the demonic sounds coming from behind you? They're quite lovely -- but I would like to know what the hell they are.

Max shrugged off this dumb thought and kept his stride. He looked at the tops of buildings as he passed them by. It was dark in this section of town, so it was hard to differ anything that suggested something was on the roof -- at least something large. Yes, Max did think it was something large; he recalled a thumping noise along with the others. Maybe a wild cat escaped from the zoo. Did Meria even have a zoo? He stopped in his tracks.
"You know, if Meria had a zoo .... I would have known about it by now" he mumbled to himself "Maybe ... there's a secret cult that has the zoo ... but they're just hi--"

Why was he thinking about this? Distracted once again by the stupid duds known as his thoughts. He needed to find the runny man, not the hidden zoo held by the secret cult! He tried not to let his thoughts meander as he strode the street corners in the night.

OOC: I'm really sorry for making everyone wait so long

The soft breeze that gently blew on Echo’s face slowly started to calm her tensed-up nerves; however she still couldn’t shake the uneasiness creeping and chilling around her back and limbs. There’s something about this place that just felt….weird. Unnatural even.

Echo saw a building, and through the rather massive windows, she saw a couple of booths; cups of what are either coffee or tea lined up on the tables, and small meals on the plates. How perfect. Trying to clear away those thoughts once again, she walked in rather rushed, not even looking up to see what the place was called, and was greeted by a thin scent of coffee. She slowed down as she entered, to not look suspicious. Upon entering, she looked for the counter where to take order and fell in line. Echo realized she had never been in a café before, not once. She panicked in the inside, having no clue what to order. Half of the drinks on the wall-menu don’t even have a description! She didn’t recognize half of the drink names. She decided she’d just have a normal cup of de-caffeinated coffee; at least the foods had normal names and descriptions, so choosing that shouldn’t be too hard.

There’s no such thing as ‘normal coffee’ here apparently, Echo irritably sighed. She ended up choosing a drink she had never heard of that tasted a little too sweet to be de-caffeinated; at least the pastry she ordered was satisfying. Gazing at the reddish brown walls, she couldn’t help but think how strange her night had become, which has been making her upset since before she entered the café. Though, surely nothing more will happen tonight, right?

Morgan had been looking for the man and the gargoyle for a while without any results. He was ready to give up on his searches, he had better things to do. Right as he was about to turn away, he again saw the familiar footprints of the man.
"There you are..." Morgan smiled, beginning his way, following the footprints, he held four knives in his hand, ready to throw them.

Name: Micheal Dixie
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Personality:loner, can have a sense of humor, has a lack of empathy.
Appearance: tall, thin, dark blonde hair stretching past his eyes(usually combed back), gambler style cowboy hat with wolf teeth wrapping the center and a cross in the middle, blue jeans, combat boots, simple shirt.
History: raised in a christian home his mother was kind and caring and his father attentive. His father taught him to hunt track and basically get outside. Before they where outlawed his father was a gun enthusiast and believed in small government. He was picked on in school and had very few friends. One day when he was 14 his mother took off, not even acknowledging him as her son. This was strange for she was a kindhearted and very caring woman. A year later his father also left, giving him the cross that now sat on his hat before he went. His father, who was always smiling and joking, said his final goodbye. He did not know why he left, only that it was for a good reason and that he was entrusted to take care of himself now. He also knew his father was dead, he knew not how, but he knew he would not be coming back. Stuck with two choices: live in an orphanage and finish school or stay in the backwoods home and hunt for dinner, he chose to stay home.
Other: skilled hunter (not of vampires), lives in a house in the wilderness almost completely self-sufficient, does not go into town often but has been, takes pride in hunting(the tougher the prey, the more rewarding).

OOC: Sorry it took a while, I decided to create a new character.

Name: Cila Nyrin
Gender: Female
Age: 16

Personality: Always lost deep in thought, Cila tends to question a lot of things. She prefers to be by herself, then she has no expectations to fill. She feels more comfortable with animals rather than other people.
Appearance: She has shoulder-length auburn hair and expressionless deep sea blue eyes. She's generally found wearing a green shirt, jeans and a warm button-up jacket.
History: After hearing the announcement on the radio, her uncle immediately took Cila to Meria and bought a small flat for them to live in. Her father had gone missing only weeks before, and her mother wouldn't take any chances with Cila. Shortly after they moved in, though, her uncle went missing as well..
Other: Cila has no knowledge that vampires (or vampire hunters) exist.
