For over one hundred years University of Washington's Friday Harbor Laboratories have served the scientific community as a highly respected field station for research in marine ecology, zoology, developmental biology, genetics, and many other fields of biological science. They also provide important training for new scientists through intensive courses for graduate and advanced undergraduate students. Friday Harbor Laboratories is a state-of -the-art marine research facility today, with ten laboratories and over one thousand five hundred acres of biological preserves in Washington's beautiful San Juan Islands. Friday Harbor Laboratories has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Facilities Coordinator. RESPONSIBILITIES: This position involves working with FHL visitors (scientists, students) and office staff in to organize and schedule housing and lab reservations in a busy office setting which emphasizes top-quality customer service. The Facilities Coordinator will receive Researcher Applications and construct a schedule of visiting researchers in our housing and labs. This person also helps organize visiting conferences and field trips. The position requires extensive use of basic computer applications including email, word processing and spreadsheets. In addition to the Facilities Coordinator tasks, the successful candidate will assist the FHL Director with administrative tasks, handle merchandise sales, assist with some payroll tasks, and handle reception duties. |

REQUIREMENTS: | ||||||||||||||||||||
High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in event or facilities management programs (program specialty) OR equivalent education/experience.
Additional requirements: High quality oral and written communication skills are required. This person interfaces with a large number of clients and strong interpersonal skills are required. This position involves regular interruptions due to its customer-centered orientation. Thus, it is important that the candidate be able to multi- task effectively and cheerfully. | ||||||||||||||||||||
