We are recruiting ambitious academics to increase our research power in key areas. We have a strong commitment to inter-disciplinary research aimed at addressing complex global challenges and give our academics the freedom to pursue intellectual interests and work creatively to produce internationally exciting research.
As part of an exciting major initiative, the University is aiming to recruit 10 new posts in data analytics and related disciplines. This activity will span our Colleges of Engineering Maths and Physics, Life and Environmental Sciences and Social Sciences and International Studies. Appointments will be made in the most appropriate college and we welcome applications from diverse disciplinary backgrounds related to data analytics. Successful applicants will join a rapidly expanding research strengths in in analytics and data science with opportunities to participate in multi-disciplinary collaborations across the university.
These posts will contribute to extending the research profile of data analytics at Exeter, particularly in areas related to machine learning, statistical science, data science, data analytics, uncertainty quantification, high performance computing for data intensive science, databases and data management, text analytics, data visualisation and modelling. We particularly welcome applications spanning more than one of these areas, and we are also looking to build expertise in urban analytics around themes such as energy, water and transport.
All applicants must be qualified to PhD level in a numerate discipline such as Computer Sciences or Mathematics or in a related field with a strong analytical element such as Geography, Psychology or Quantitative Social Science. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a strong potential for research leadership with a track record in refereed publications and involvement in submitting successful grant applications. A commitment to teamwork, collaboration and inter/multi-disciplinary working is essential to foster interactions and links both internally and externally. All applications relevant to our research strategy will be considered.
Applicants at Senior Lecturer level will have proven success in significant grant capture. The successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Associate Professors will have an international reputation with experience of making significant contribution to the development of research strategy contributing to educational programmes and the overall student experience.
Professors will be leading international figures with the ability to attract world class academics to their research groups.
