Feds Eat & Speak Mentorship Series
Thank you to everyone who submitted their name to participate in the first two events with Professors Stu McGill and Josh Neufeld. As the Nov. 18 deadline has passed, we are not accepting new submissions at this time. The Feds Eat & Speak Mentorship Series will continue into the Winter 2012 semester with new events.


The Federation of Students wants to help you to get to know uWaterloo's professors! Dinner is on us, all you need to do is come ready to ask questions and engage in discussion. Eight uWaterloo undergraduate students will be accepted for each dinner.Participants will be selected by random draw from all valid entries following the deadline.

Students may enter the draw for multiple events, but will only be selected to attend one Eat & Speak session over the year (Fall 2011, Winter 2012, Spring 2012). This will allow more students to participate in the Eat & Speak series.

Stu McGill
Professor, Applied Health Science

Director, Spine Biomechanics Laboratory
 
Stu McGill started teaching at the University of Waterloo in 1986 as a professor of spine biomechanics. His team works to figure out how the spine works and
becomes injured. They work out approaches for rehabilitation and performance training. McGill has worked with many back pained patients and pro athletes in the UFC, NBA, NFL and numerous Olympic sports!


Josh D. Neufeld
Assistant Professor, Science
BSc, MSc (McGill), PhD (UBC)
 
Josh Neufeld is a molecular microbial ecologist and has been a faculty member at UW since 2007. His research spans the microbial ecology of environments ranging from arctic soils to the human body. Who is out there? What are they doing? When not supervising the research in his lab, he can usually be found teaching large and small microbiology classes, where he enjoys making the large classes have the feel of small classes as much as possible. Dr. Neufeld enjoys spending time with his family, reading, keeping aquarium fish, playing poker and exploring new types of beer.
