Do you feel trapped by a dream *you* built? Carlos Gil once believed he would thrive as an entrepreneur. He thought it was the ultimate American dream… Until he opened his own business and truly understood the grind, and he’s not here to glamorize it. “It felt more like trap than it felt like a freedom,” he says. For Gil, real freedom isn’t about big exits or dollar signs. It’s peace. “Peace with who you are, what you’re doing, and who you’re surrounding yourself with.” So he decided to close his business. His message to entrepreneurs wrestling with the decision to keep going: 👉 It’s okay to walk away. 👉 It’s okay to go back to what got you here. 👉 It doesn’t matter what people think of you. Generally, no app builder wants to turn away too many prospects at the front door. You usually want to minimize initial friction and then walk them through. But what if the success of your app relies, first and foremost, on the quality of your users? Justin McLeod, CEO and founder of the dating app Hinge, says the app loses 20% of prospective users during the onboarding process. And that’s on purpose. Hinge wants to filter out people who aren't looking for deeper connections or aren’t willing to do the work. Justin wants to attract a particular demographic: "They’re here because they wanna get off dating apps." "We use the word 'intentional daters' — people who wanna put in thoughtful effort because they’re looking for a real result," Justin explains. "It’s definitely this constant honing of how do you make people a little bit more authentic and put in a little bit more without turning them off and discouraging them." Presence is not just for executives. If you think executive presence is only for senior leaders, think again. Every professional needs presence. Without it, your ideas go unheard, your contributions are overlooked, and opportunities pass you by. → Ever felt like you had a great idea in a meeting, but no one paid attention? → Have you spoken up, only to be interrupted or dismissed? → Do you struggle to be recognized as a leader? These are not just “confidence” issues. They are presence issues. The cost of not having presence? → Being seen as less credible, even when you’re competent. → Missing out on promotions or leadership opportunities. → Struggling to get buy-in for your ideas. Presence is a skill, not a personality trait. You can build it. In 𝙐𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚, I break down how professionals at every level can: ✅ Speak with confidence and clarity ✅ Build credibility and influence in any setting ✅ Command attention without being the loudest in the room Presence is power. AI can be a powerful tool for leadership development for those who are ready to engage in the process, but it is not a substitute for the human elements of leadership—intuition, empathy, and the ability to inspire. The future of leadership development will likely be a blend of AI-driven efficiency and human insight, ensuring that technology serves as an enhancer rather than a replacement. #leadership #decisionmaking #selfdiscovery

The decades-long work to solidify diversity, equity and inclusion (#DEI) practices into the foundation of U.S. business practices saw incredible progress over the past five years. In fact, DEI roles appeared on LinkedIn's annual Jobs on the Rise list more than once since 2020. In the face of political and legal pressure, several employers on this year's LinkedIn's Top Companies list have changed their approach to this work over the past year. Jenn Tardy, a LinkedIn Top Voice and author of The Equity Edge, told LinkedIn News that these changes can result in job seekers needing to go above and beyond what they did before during the hiring process. You can read more about this topic in a special piece from LinkedIn News #GetHired Editor Andrew Seaman here: https://lnkd.in/dP8wxgcc Additionally, you can see all of the U.S. LinkedIn Top Companies here: https://lnkd.in/USTopCompanies25 #LinkedInTopCompanies

  • Think you might be experiencing burnout? Amanda Miller Littlejohn knows a trick to help you spot it from a mile away. “Burnout is when your nervous system kind of goes into this unchecked overdrive where you can't process. It's like a computer, I liken it to a computer having too many tabs open and overheating,” she says. Amanda is a career coach and the author of “The Rest Revolution.” This week on #HelloMondayPodcast, she revealed the biggest indicator of burnout and overwork. “ For most of the clients that I have coached and seen, burnout for them looks like a loss of joy, a loss of creativity. For me, that's absolutely how it shows up. I'm a very creative person, so when I can't access my own creativity, I know that I'm in a bad place.” For some practical ways to combat burnout every day, check out the full episode below.
