Welcome!

We are Doctors for Safer Drug Policy. In October of 2024, we opened two unsanctioned Overdose Prevention Sites at hospitals on Vancouver Island, in response to a government that continues to barricade our access to the tools that we as physicians need to save lives.

We want to see this action ripple out across our province and nation. We already have plans for at least 4 other hospital sites to pop up Overdose Prevention Sites across British Columbia. It is only with solidarity that we can make ourselves impossible for politicians to continue to sideline. If you are considering popping up OPS in your community or at your hospital, we have created a toolkit to help guide your efforts. We are also happy to follow this up with virtual meetings if further support is required. We are here to help!

You don't have to be a physician to replicate this action! We encourage all health care workers, peers, and engaged community citizens to reach out. If you give your permission to share your contact info in order to support networking, we can connect you with like-minded individuals in your community so that you may unite and join forces in your courageous harm reduction efforts!

Saving Lives is Not Controversial.

With Gratitude,

Your Doctors for Safer Drug Policy Team
