For those who need an introduction, Anubis, meet board. Board, meet Anubis :lol.
And this is his Arm Device, a combination of a mean weapon and a device used to to activate the transport rings.
This one :
On to the 'build'.
I say build, but I would classify this project more as a jigsaw puzzle :wacko
The first and most important component, I got a set of one of Karl's (kwalsh0000) phenomenal castings.
And one of these to complement that part.
For the claws, I used sheets of aluminium.
I tried this method first.
But I found they were near impossible to bend into shape with 2 halves :wacko
So I went this way.
And added cut up strips of a brass rod to place on top. Filed at the edges and the top.
Once finished, I sanded them to give them the rough and used look.
The rings.
Ring bases, brass settings, and some cool cabochons.
The side pieces of the settings were later chopped off and the settings painted.
Last component for the rings was some chain to attach them to the claws.
Next step was to figure out how to attach the two parts of the gauntlet together and keep them steady.
An old VHS tape cover cut up into strips and secured with superglue did the trick.
For the chainmail, I used one of these.
The bottom part, black elastic, and the embedded metal fasteners were removed.
One of these to put everything on.
The glove went onto the wooden hand .... and it was too short :lol
No worries. Anubis had a mitten, not a glove, so I used the chopped off fingers of the glove itself to extend the bottom part :lol
The wooden hand itself was also way too short to accommodate the gauntlet.
Again, no worries.
Waste not want not as I always say, and I stuck an empty can onto the bottom of the wooden hand :lol
Which I covered with a piece of black cloth. That would also serve to cover the bottom of the whole forearm.
I used the lid of a jar of coffee, with the centre cut out, to 'seal' the whole bottom part together.
Last, and most definitely not least, I stole the bottom part of a box of glasses from the pantry.
(I suspect this will seal my fate when the Mrs. eventually finds out :lol)
Now here all the above elements painted and stuck together, and the result of this project.
A reminder of the screencaps
And my replica
And here is how it looks on display
Hope you enjoyed the build and pics
