So Spurs boss Harry Redknapp removed Gunter from the relegation firing line and he has played both fixtures he has been at Forest as he continues his "football education."
Gunter now prepares to win his 13th Wales cap against Finland in their 2010 World Cup qualifier at The Millennium Stadium before Wednesday's Cardiff clash with Germany.
And he prepares for Wales duty safe in the knowledge that his future lies in the top-flight.
"There are not a great deal of 19-year-olds playing in the Premier League at the moment," said Gunter.
"I did get frustrated. But there are times I have been sitting on the bench at Spurs and looking around at players who have played 200 plus games in the Premier League. And they are not happy either.
"I just took a step back and realised the benefits of what I could do on loan somewhere.
"I see going out on loan as part of my football education and it will only improve me as a player.
"I want to go out and play games but I want to make my name at Tottenham."
