Jones Announces OKGOP Team Angie LaPlante to Run on Ticket OKLAHOMA CITY (February 16, 2009)– Oklahoma Republican Party Chairman Gary Jones today announced that Edmond resident and long time Republican activist, Angie LaPlante, will run for Vice-Chairman of the Oklahoma Republican Party. “I’m thrilled that Angie will be seeking the Vice-Chairmanship position,” said Chairman Gary Jones. “She is a proven grassroots leader whose resume speaks for itself. It’s an honor to run on a ticket with her.” LaPlante is the current First Vice-President of the Oklahoma Federation of Republican Women (OFRW). The OFRW is part of the almost 100,000-member National Federation of Republican Women, one of the largest and most influential political organizations in the U.S. LaPlante served as President of the Edmond Republican Women’s Club (ERW) from 2004-2006. During that time membership increased over 400%. She helped set up and run the Edmond Republican HQ and their 72-Hour “Elephant Stampede” Program in 2004, where they distributed over 40,000 pieces of campaign literature. Her efforts paid off with every Edmond legislator winning their elections. “If both elected, I look forward to working with the GOP team at the State Party. We’ve come a long way under Gary’s leadership, and 2010 is simply too important to sit on the sidelines. I will hit the ground running if I have the honor to serve in this position,” said LaPlante.Angie currently works full-time for the OK House of Representatives as the assistant to State Representative Ken Miller. She and her family are active members at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond. She has been married 23 years to Joel LaPlante, a retired Air Force pilot currently working for the FAA. They have one son, Chris, who is a student at UCO and an Air Force Reservist at Tinker AFB. In the coming weeks, Jones and LaPlante will release a detailed Oklahoma Republican Party plan of action for the 2010 election cycle. They will also be speaking at numerous County Conventions around the state.
