ISBN10: 0995716269, ISBN13: 9780995716261, [publisher: Silver Press, London] Softcover Paperback. By turns a handbook of countercultural living, a manual for street protest, and a feminist broadside against the repressive state apparatus, Revolutionary Letters is a modern classic, as relevant today as it was at its inception, 50 years ago. During the tumult of 1968, Beat poet Diane di Prima began writing her letters, poems filled with a potent blend of utopian anarchism and Zen-tinged ecological awareness that were circulated via underground newspapers and stapled pamphlets. First published in 1971 by Lawrence Ferlinghettis City Lights in the US, di Prima would go on to publish four subsequent editions, expanding the collection each time. During the last years of her life, di Prima got to work on the final iteration of this lifelong project, collecting all of her previously published letters and adding the new work, poems written from 2007 up to the time of her death in October 2020. By turns a handbook of countercultural living, a manual for street protest, and a feminist broadside against the repressive state apparatus, Revolutionary Letters is a modern classic, as relevant today as it was at its inception, 50 years ago. Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability. [Stevenage, United Kingdom] [Publication Year: 2021] ...

[publisher: City Lights Books, San Francisco] Softcover Second Printing, with the addition of Letters #44-49. Cook [#27 of the Pocket Poets Series] is confusing and in error. The City Lights edition was preceded by a fugitive mimeo edition [New York, Communications Company, 1968]. Cook says the first printing of the second edition was in October 1971, but the second printing also includes this date, though the copyright page changes after the first printing, dropping the Villiers [London] printing statement. Cook also states this second printing included additional letters #44-48, but it also includes #49. The second printing is perfect bound (whereas the first was sewn signatures) and was printed by Edwards Brothers. The second printing was December 1971, though the copyright page states October 1971, as in the first printing. 88pp. with 13 titles listed on last page (instead of 11). This second printing is often misidentified as the first printing, and is no less uncommon than the first. This, a Very Fine copy in black, white and red wrappers, spotless and unworn.
