4.3 out of 5 stars 84 ratings

In CROSSING LINES, the world's best-stocked toy drawer can only take a gal so far. Bored with her current assortment of vibrating, plastic pieces, building inspector Sam Wallace decides to add a new sex toy to her collection: Kevin Mazze. The irresistible Italian is happy to help her live out her long-held sexual fantasies, while also insinuating himself into her life and winning the affection of her five-year old daughter. But just as Sam starts to trust Kevin with her heart, as well as her body, she learns he’s committed an unforgivable sin.

Myrtle Beach developer Kevin Mazze is one of the good guys. He's spent his life always doing the right things and making those around him happy, even if it means maintaining a relationship long after it’s reached its expiration date. When he meets the woman of his dreams, he finds himself making bad choices in the name of good and crossing lines he never thought he would... while praying she never learns of the secret he’s been hiding.

Each book in the Heat Wave series stands alone and can be read out of order.

Excellent story, very good character development, you are invested in the people and their story from the very beginning. Ironically, this was the book I most wanted to read, but decided to buy the others to read them in order- this was a good story, but not quite as captivating as the first two. This was a little more adventurous than the prior two books as far as plot and content, but I was very satisfied with the way the story was told. Great job!

I read the first half of this book at the gym and couldn’t stop myself from laughing out loud. Thank goodness I was the only one there since I’m sure I looked like a weirdo. Then things started to heat up in the book and I knew I couldn’t finish it at the gym, even if I was alone. There are some ridiculously steamy moments in this book, one of them being a fantasy come true scene that really just takes the entire cake (even I’m not 100% sure how Kevin pulled it all off).

I’ve been a fan of this series since book one and I hope that Alannah continues it. I’ve been waiting for Kevin’s chance at love and I was not disappointed in what I got. I loved Sam and her daughter Michy. They were exactly what Kevin needed. And for the most part I loved Kevin, although there was a moment where I wanted to reach through the book and shake him. Of course that moment came back to bite him, but it really all worked out so well for everyone involved.

This is definitely a great series to read. The books are fun, sexy and quick. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great romance series.

First book that I have ever read by this author. I am getting the other books in the Heat Wave Series.

Alannah Lynne is a very good writer. I loved the plot, enjoyed the characters, and the sex of sizzling! Humor always lures me into a book and I enjoyed the wordplay and the sexy seduction.

Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

This is the third in the Heat Wave series and I think it tops my list. Each book has great scenes with the hero and heroine but I think Kevin and Sam are my favorite. We met Kevin Mazze, the Italian stud, from Erik and Kat's story and I was so look forward to seeing him get his HEA. Sam Wallace is the spunky building inspector that throws him for a loop.

I really enjoyed this story and hope that Steve will get a story and who would be is soul mate. I'm thinking someone who like to get dirty since he rides dirt bikes. One can only hope. Alannah Lynne did a fabulous job and I can't wait for the next story.

Ok, so the reading of this book could've gone a lot of different ways...
The kinky sex is not my usual read and I rarely read a book when I know that's what's waiting for me. I've stumbled upon some and I don't think there ever was one I liked in spite of the kinky sex. And why is that? I think it's because of Alannah's writing, which is very tasteful.
With that being said, guess I gotta start with Kevin... Oh, Kevin, why were you so stupid? And most yet, why were you so hot? It took me a while to start liking him cause I really dislike lies, even if they're not intended to hurt. And Kevin really went at it the wrong way in the beginning. But then he grew on me cause he really is one heck of a guy. And the sparks coming off when he and Sam were together were undeniable.
Also, Michy is adorable. And Kevin was adorable when interacting with her - another score.
As for Sam, she's a great mom and a really brave woman. Can't lie and say I loved her cause for some reason she's not one of my favorite characters ever, but she's a likable one.
Oh, well, guess that's that. Would I recommend it? If you have nothing against kinky sex, sure, go ahead and read it, Alannah is an awesome writer. If you're not into it, then skip this one and read the other books in the series - I really enjoyed them.

3 "I'll Always Catch You" Stars

Crossing Lines is the third book in the Heat Wave Series by Alannah Lynne but can be read as a standalone. This is my first book by Ms. Lynne and I was very much able to enjoy Sam and Kevin's story without reading the previous books. Even though the blurb made it pretty obvious that there is cheating going on in this book and I normally cringe at those kind of storylines, it worked in Kevin's case with minimal angst and cringing.

Sam is inspecting Kevin's building project when she first meets him. He needs to be able to open his new development but Sam shuts him down because he hasn't met all the requirements. Without each other knowing, both are very attracted to each other after that first meeting. Sam has been on her own for a number of years since her husband cheated on her and left her and their young daughter. Instead of having relationships that would only end in pain, she has amassed some of her favorite toys to satisfy her kinky side. When she and her daughter run into Kevin and his nephew at the beach, sparks fly. She ends up twisting her ankle which gives Kevin the excuse to take care of her. When he sees her drawer full of toys his plan to wait two weeks to dump his on again/off again girlfriend first fly out the window. It became obvious that Sam and Kevin fit well together in all aspects of their lives in a way Sam's ex-husband or Kevin's current girlfriend ever did. Now Kevin needs to find a way to dump his girlfriend before Sam finds out. But things don't always go to plan and Sam's worst nightmare comes true. Again.

I like going into a story knowing whether it's a happy ending or if there is cheating. I like angst in my reads, but I'm the type of reader that prefers knowing things going in so I can manage my anxiety. Knowing that Kevin had girlfriend made me very wary of Kevin. When I saw what their relationship was like I understood better where he was coming from but in all honesty I did at times just want him to man up and end it. He wasn't doing anybody any favors. In the end though I do think the cheating was handled properly even if the situation became a little too easy and wouldn't probably happen in reality. The other thing I questioned was the speed in which they fell into bed and in love. Everything happened very quickly for it to seem totally plausible with all the outside factors they are both facing.

My favorite part of the story was definitely the steam factor. Sam and Kevin were H.O.T together. Actually Sam was H.O.T all on her own with her fantasies and toy drawer. If I'm being honest, she reminds me of a real woman (maybe even myself) in which she has lots of ideas and tries them herself even if she's nervous about actually doing them in real life with a partner. I loved how her sex life was represented because it was real and I could totally see myself in her place. But when Kevin and Sam were together in the bedroom, that's when my Kindle started to steam up. Kevin was the kind of guy every woman hopes for. The way he took charge made me smile, swoon, sweat, and wish for someone just like him. Add in watching Kevin with Sam's daughter and that sweet as sin epilogue and I smiled my way through most of this sweet story.

I may have loved this book but book two in the series still trumps.

Kevin we met in book one and works for the family firm with his sister Marianne. His father has gone on holiday leaving him with a problem at work that he cant afford to sit around and wait to deal with.

Samantha (Sam) is currently an inspector and used to work for her fathers construction company before he died and her family sold the business from under her.

She also walked in on her husband banging his secretary and is now raising her daughter alone.

Sparks fly between them from the moment they meet, especially as Sam cannot give them the certificate they need to continue. Having worked in the business she knows how hard it is and that night works on some options to help them.

A chance meeting at the beach and a twisted ankle later Kevin and Sam spend the weekend together even though Kevin hasn't officially broken up with his girlfriend.

After a good few bumps, tears and giggling children this couple learn what they can't live without, and what they can forgive.

A spicy read a times that will leave you believing that love conquers all.
