Josh's dream comes true when he receives a mobile phone from his Auntie Millie a few weeks before his tenth birthday. He soon discovers that this is no ordinary mobile, but a gateway to the whole Central Mobile System, (C.M.S.). He receives a text message at school. Whilst attempting to switch off the mobile he presses a button that appears to transport him into his mobile phone.
Within the C.M.S., he meets other 31 12s (children born on the 31st December). They are the only ones who have access to this other world. Their mission is one of national security; to keep unauthorized persons, (latchons) from entering the C.M.S. and creating havoc such as intercepting text messages.
Back in the real world, he has difficulty convincing his best friend Sam that this place really exists. But he has a chance to prove it to him when he is able to take just one trusted friend, ten seconds before midnight on New Years Eve, to the C.M.S.
This secret world was first discovered by his Aunt and visited by his father. They now both work as government agents. Following in his father's footsteps, Josh has adventures in the photo rooms and games hall. These include fighting the Galactic invasion and chasing enemy latchons through the latest game download 'Rat Catcher'.
