About the Author

It came from Him, not me.

The Lord inspired me in 1999 one evening at a church choir event. As I sat in the back row, listening to the awesome Christian music, in the dark, an incredible urge to draw came over me. Being an artist and art teacher for 10 years, I had experienced this feeling before, but NEVER had it been so intense. I 'happened' to have a pen in my pocket, but the only paper around was the program that I got as I walked in the door. In the empty space of the margins I sketched like crazy. I felt like I would pop if I didn't get the ideas out of my brain right then! I will never forget that feeling. I had never felt so peaceful yet energized at the same time. God was just getting started with me! Over the course of 9 months we created the Christian ABC's.

Each letter is educational and deep in meaning to me. In them you will find close to 100 ancient and modern images used in the past 2000 years to express the Christian Faith. I have hopes of sharing all of the basic aspects of Christianity with this Christian ABC book and with those who really look into The Christian Alphabet.

    My Review:

    This book is a virtual gold mine for children ages 4-8. It takes each letter of the alphabet and opens up a whole new world to them and to adults as well. And it quite possibly will teach them about the Bible and all it holds in a totally different and unique way.

    Upon opening the book you, the reader, will be guided by "Love" the dove from above. The author has thought of everything. This book can be used as a teaching tool for young and old alike. It is laid out in a multipurpose format. Each page is laid out in the different ways I listed below:

    The Letter&Word it stands for and its meaning.

    The Lesson Highlighted in red and the lesson ends with a prayer.

    There is also a seek and you shall find activity page to go along with each lesson.

    The author was sure to include special Christian word and Bible verses associated with each letter. Choosing to do this, I think makes the entire lesson come together for us beautifully. Then at the back of the book is a condensed version of the Christian Alphabet Symbology. This book is set up so that if your child has a question about Heaven you just look under H and you can dive right in.

    This is truly a wonderful book for children. Not only does it help teach ABC's but this book teaches about Jesus, the bible, and prayer.
    There are questions, exercises, and tips throughout the book to help your child delve deeper into their Christian faith.
    This makes a perfect book for parents, caregivers, Church teachers, etc.
    Symbols are provided throughout the entire book to help explain what each symbol means should your child ask you, or if you want to explain to them in easier words.

    My children 5 and 2 adored this book. They had plenty of questions to ask throughout, it helped brush up on their ABC's, and helped teach them more about Jesus, prayer, and our Christian faith. They loved "Love" the dove who is on every page with a basic lesson or activity for your child to participate in.
    Everything is well laid out in this book according to the letters. Such as if your child wants to talk about Heaven just simply go to the H pages. If your child wants to learn about Prayer simply turn to the P pages.
    It's wonderful for reference, study, and reading for fun.
    The illustrations are colorful and will hold your child's attention with their vivid details. If your children have any questions about any of the illustrations explanations are found in the back of the book so you can easily give them answers to their questions.
    I loved how the book was laid out with everything easy to find, you won't find yourself hunting through page after page to find certain references or answers to your child's question. It's something you can read with them or if they are old enough, that they can study on their own. I would recommend it more for children ages 4+, or for children just learning about Christian faith. This is the perfect book for a child learning about Christianity. My two year old didn't have any trouble staying interested in it and was asking a lot of questions regarding the illustrations. My five year old was more able to comprehend what everything meant and took away a lot more meaning, but it was something that we ALL enjoyed nonetheless.

    Our book came with a wonderful CD singing the Christian Alphabet which my children took to immediately and wanted to listen to it over and over again. There are other songs such as Jesus Loves Me, Silent Night, and Amazing Grace. Some of our favorites.

    I love this book! the illustrations, the concept and it's theologically sound too! The book is a perfect way to introduce Christian concepts to children, I intend to take each letter and do something each day for two weeks at a time so using A as always looking at ways the children can always trust God and building on it. The book is better than just having stories because whereas it's great to have Bible stories children need more than just that. As a parent who wants to bring her children up to know Jesus this fills the gap nicely between just reading stories and prayer times and brings living for Jesus to life in a real and practical way for our family and makes Christianity not just something we do on Sunday or something I leave to others to teach my children. Aside from this it's also it's a beautiful book. xx
