Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

First graffiti artist Kidult sprayed the word "ART" on the facade of the Marc Jacobs store in Soho. Then, Marc Jacobs printed up a t-shirt commemorating the incident. And now, Tumblr Wilfry is selling a t-shirt printed with a photo of the MJ t-shirt. It gets better: Marc Jacobs is selling the Kidult tee for $689, a fact that Kidult himself seems to find offensive. But Wilfry is selling the meta tee for just $35.

Basically, we're witnessing a chain of subversion here. Kidult undermined Marc Jacobs by painting on his storefront. Marc undermined Kidult by turning his art into an expensive commodity. And now this third t-shirt is undermining the Marc Jacobs tee by letting people get in on the joke for nearly one-twentieth of the price. There's really only one place this can go: Somebody has to put the Wilfry shirt on a shirt and start giving those away for free.
