Sunday School Registration 2014-2015

Please join us for Sunday School this year! Sunday School at Calvary runs from Sept. 14th, 2014 - May 10th, 2015. There are classes for youth Ages 3 through 12th Grade. The nursery is available every week for guests and regular attendees from 8:00am - 12:00pm for ages six weeks to four-years-old. To register, please scroll down to the bottom of this page and click "REGISTER NOW."

This year, we have several exciting new offerings to add into the mix.

We are expanding the Godly Play program to include two fully supplied rooms. The first room will be for children Age 3 - Kindergarten. The second room will be for children in 1st - 2nd Grade. Click here to watch a quick intro to Godly Play from the Godly Play foundation.  Many thanks to Phil Karsell and Dick Christiana for building two of these shelving sets! Also, thanks to Theresa Hornberg & Stephanie Barsness for helping me get all the story sets together!

Godly Play I Teachers: Stephanie Barsness, Mary Richert, Al Gotmer, Sarah Pool

Godly Play II Teachers: Nicole Carlson, Kristin Mallory, Hannah Demmer, and Kirsten Vitale (subbing in for Kristin).

The 3rd-5th class is getting a new curriculum called Connect. Connect is the precursor to the popular  Re:Form middle school curriculum. Connect seeks to highlight how bible stories 'connect' with one another, and like Re:Form it uses short DVD clips. Click here to watch a 2-min video about Connect.

Connect Teachers: Christie Atwell, Jennifer O'Neill, Robin Wisniewski, Colleen Spillers.

The Middle School class will be continuing into year two of the Re:Form curriculum. New to Re:Form? Click here for a sample video and here for a glimpse into our beloved anti-workbooks. And check this out --- a new double-sized room! If any one feels inclined to help us furnish this brand new room, I'd be grateful for just about anything! Perhaps you have a rug, some throw pillows, or even some old cushions you're ready to part with. I'm planning on assembling three wood pallet couches so I'll need anything that is squishy :). I'm selling some old stuff on craigslist to help with funds, so my fingers are crossed!! If you would want to donate monetarily, there is a place to do that when registering.

Middle School Teachers: Alex Alexander, Colleen Timimi, TIm Seelinger, Sarah Barnett.

The High School class will again be meeting in Menefee and using a discussion-based format. We will include confirmation topics in our dicussion and work our way though all of the subjects in "My Faith, My Life" by Jenifer Gamber via a self-directed approach. New opportunities for high school students this year include Greater MN TEC #51 (Teens Encounter Christ) at Calvary on Oct. 17-19th. Greater MN TEC #52 will be Mar. 12-14 in the cities. High school students may also help lead our middle school retreats and vbs programs. Our high school program is flexible intentionally so that we may expand upon our students' natural interests. Things like planning a mission trip for this summer or a pilgrimage will also be considered.

High School Teachers: John Beltz, Barbara Toman

We have a new Youth Group this year  - Fusion! Middle school and High school students are invited to join  Fusion, which is a service-based youth group that meets on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month from 6:00-7:30 pm. We focus on both "reaching out" and "reaching in" to strike a balance between developing ourselves and our personal gifts and calling upon those gifts to serve others. We alternate locations between Calvary and St. Luke's Episcopal Church -- odd months at Calvary, even months at St. Luke's.
