如何用邮寄票投票给Catharine Baker

第一步  填写选票

众议院16选区有两个县，有不同格式的选票。

Contra Costa County的选票：适合的城市San Ramon, Danville, Alamo, Walnut Creek, Lamorinda areas．涂黑Catharine Baker名字前的椭圆形的圈 即可．

如果你住在 Alameda County (Pleasanton, Dublin, Livermore)：Catharine Baker 的名字后面有一根中间断开的粗黑箭头。你需要用黑笔把断开的部分涂黑，让箭头两段连成一条线。

第二步： 封上和签字

填好的选票

1. 撕下每张选票顶部的二维码纸条作为备份
2. 放入信封，封好。
3. 在信封上要求签名的地方签上你的名字。无签名的选票无效。签名需要和选民注册表上的签名类似，如果你是用表格注册选民的话。 在线注册选民的签名应该和驾照上签名类似。
4. 根据信封上的提示贴上邮票 （例如Alameda County 需要自己贴邮票）

小潘同学去参加polling office培训后告诉我一个惊人的消息：有很多邮寄选票由于签名不对而作废。邮寄选票又叫"voting by mail"或“absentee ballots"，加州大约有20％的人邮寄选票。如果选票信封没签名，选票作废；如果选票上的签名和注册的签名不match, 选票就会作废。选举签名验证是通过签名验证机器来核实，培训官员说具他的经验邮寄选票作废率很高，小潘同学建议如果大家能去投票站当场投票，最好当场投票。

什么是注册的签名：如果你是网上注册，签名就是你驾照上的签名；如果你是用纸张表格注册，签名就是你注册表格上的签名。

我没查到官方报道到底被作废的邮寄选票有多少，Dean C. Logan, the registrar for Los Angeles County, said：不是0％也不是10％。如果你发现你签字有大的变化，请重新填写一张选民注册表更新签名；如果来不及更新，就去投票站填写一个当场注册的表格在投票站注册。

For primary election, completed ballots including Vote-by-mail Ballots must arrive by 8:00 p.m. on June 3, 2014.

第三步. 寄出选票

尽快寄出填完，封好，签名了的选票。推荐用邮局信箱寄出去。家用的信箱也可以。

Mail the signed envelope as soon as possible, preferably using a Post Office pick-up box (not necessary to use one; home post office is acceptable).

How to vote for Catharine Baker

Instructions for voting for Catharine using absentee ballots:

Step 1.Fill in the ballot

There are two variants:

If you live in Contra Costa County (San Ramon, Danville, Alamo, Walnut Creek, Lamorinda areas), fill in the bubble appearing next to Catharine Baker’s name.

If you live in Alameda County (Pleasanton, Dublin, Livermore), there is an arrow to the right of Catharine’s name and you need to fill in that line so it completes an arrow pointing to her name. Use a black pen.

Pictures of Catharine’s name as it appears in the Contra Costa and Alameda County versions of the ballot are attached.

Step 2. Seal and Sign the ballot

Put the ballot into the envelope, seal the envelope, sign it where it asks for your signature. Your ballot will NOT be counted if you do not sign the envelope. Your signature on the envelope needs to look like your signature on either your voter registration form (if you registered to vote using a form and mailed that form in) or as it appears on your California Driver’s License (if you registered to vote online).

Step 3. Mail it out

Mail the signed envelope as soon as possible, preferably using a Post Office pick-up box (not necessary to use one; home post office is acceptable).
