Worked great for me!

Worked great for me!
Hi guys, here is my story. (This is a real review after the first use.) We have satellite internet which requires a clear view from the dish to the antenna. We started dropping off because a high branch was occasionally waving in between. It was at least 50' up there and out on the end of the limb. I bought this saw after eeeing mixed reviews. People had cautioned that the cutting side of the blade would be the wrong way, but mine had a flat weight attached to the blade so that it pointed downwards. I attached fishing line to the included bean bag, and threw it up over the branch, then added longer line to each side of the saw and hauled it up there. It went over perfectly. My friend and I sawed it back and forth and it cut right through the branch in less than 1minute. Worked great for us!

I bought this to remove some high limbs on an oak tree in the fornt of my house, one of which was laying on my roof. After reading all the reviews, good and bad, I thought I had a pretty good understanding of what was wrong with it. I ordered it and a 50 foot para cord. I modified the saw before I ever used it. I re-enforced the throw bag with a piece of clothes hanger. I started out with a lower limb to get the feel of it. It worked beautifully !! I then started on the limb that was laying on my roof. I had read about people getting it hung in tree limbs high in a tree and could not get them out. That was the reason for the para cord. I tied a weight on the para cord and threw it across the limb close to my roof so I could pull the limb downward if it pinched my saw. I started cutting the limb about 2 feet from the base of the limb. It soon started to bind. The problem was that I was trying to cut with it wrapped all the way around the limb which was about 5 inches around. I got my wife to work one side of the rope. We stood far away enough to make the saw cut directly on top of the limb and cut downward. It worked like a charm !!! It only took about a minute for us to cut through the 5 inche limb. It cut very fast and cleanly. I also used two 6 inch extensions from my socket set to use as handles on the rope, just looped the rope around the extensions and it worked very well for both of us. I love this saw. We have cut many limbs down with it in our yard and have never gotten it stuck in a limb. Read the instructions, pay attention to the illustrations and it will work for you just as well.

I had some dead trees in my yard that threatened to fall over and hit my house every time it got a little windy. Having never used a gas or electric chain saw I was a little hesitant to rent one and cut down the trees. I used this saw to cut down the limbs atop the trees so that if they were to fall they wouldn't come near my house.

The saw was easy to use and made short work of the smaller limbs. The larger limbs took a little more elbow grease but the saw eventually got the job done.

Although I've had no problems with the saw I can see that where the rope meets the chain is fraying just a bit. I suspect that it's due in part to me going a little beyond the limb circumference the saw is deigned for. Replacing the rope seems like it would be relatively easy and inexpensive.

This works, but the saw part is not stable and tends to flip over while you are cutting branches. We used it to cut the branches down for the deer stands around the property. Was more work than a hand saw and It should only be used in those areas that are too hard to reach with any other tool or saw.

If you want to make the product better make the blade on both sides that way it does not matter which face interacts with the tree. You can have this idea for free and sell more saws.

For details read Dr Turniptrucks detailed review..He is right in that you have to "fix" the tool prior to extended use. The bag clip is worthless ,, replace it before you use the saw.. the ropes will pull apart at the metal clip with very little pull force. so either thighten them or replace them before you use saw..you will end up with saw stuck in limb and only one rope to dislodge it if you don't .
ON the good note the ropes are good and the saw will cut the limb. the design of the metal positioning bar works well. I was able to cut several 1 in to 2 inch limbs with ease. the 3 in limb was a problem because it began falling and the blade got stuck.. may have to support any limb larger than 2 inches in order to cut it.

The idea is nice in theory. Well in fact its junk, I will explain. The rope is too short so I added 10 feet on each side. The weight bag tears easily, clip is easy to bend when you are yanking on a rope attached to a branch 40 feet above your head, this comes in handy when it gets stuck, rock bag falls down WATCH OUT, and believe me it gets stuck every rime. It will cut about half way through and it gets stuck every time now. I have three trees on my property that I wanted to deal with now the branches are hanging down so this means I will be climbing up with a ladder in the spring with my trusty chainsaw to do it right! Oh, and I also have a rock on my roof the bag tends to open! MY ADVICE THIS THING IS A GIMMICK SAVE YOUR MONEY! I have many trees on my country property trust me, I tried this on THREE trees all THREE times was not successful. I waited 10 days for this snake oil product to be delivered and I was all excited, if I only knew then what I know now I would not have bought this. I will say the chain was nice and sharp not really anything good to say about this product.

this item works well I was able to use it to trim a 40 foot willow tree. I tied on an extra 10 foot of rope on each side to extend my reach. saw worked great it gets stuck in the cut sometimes at the end of the cut to eliminate that problem use two people one on each end of the rope and take a few steps apart from each other this makes the angle of the chain in the cut not as sharp. I found it better to use the throw bag with a small string on it (I used a string line from Walmart $2.00) and it worked a lot better then using the throw bag attached to the rope saw especially when throwing high up in the tree. Another advantage of using a light string with the throw bag was that the throw bag would hardly ever get stuck in the tree because it is so much heavier then the string when using the bag with the rope saw it got stuck a lot and would get stuck every time over 30 feet. I was bid $700.00 to remove the dead branches from the tree the big branches I was able to do with a hand saw but the ends of all the limbs would only be possible with a lift of some sort or this rope saw I'm a fan.
