i have both an ipad and the galaxy. And the galaxy is way better. No website restrictions like on ipad, so i can get on websites that run flash like fancast and youtube. (on the ipad you need an app to watch videos on youtube, and they have to be videos that were made to be seen on the apple, which means many aren't apple ready). The keyboard is a lot fater to use. Out of the box it comes with some great apps. I dont have to link to itunes to transfer files. On the galaxy I can download files from email and open them just like a pc, unlike apple where i would need a special app and link to itunes to see files. its more portable than the ipad. I got it unlocked and i can use my phones sim card on it... overall a better product than the ipad and without the apple restrictions.

This was a galaxy so close but yet so far far away. I had great hopes for this device with the ability to play flash, use a memory card, g3, usb adaptor and the front and back facing cameras. It is very close, in fact it may currently be the closest ipad competitor on the market today. The touch screen is fairly responsive. There are many useful apps. Most of the apps work fairly well. The size is nice and easy to hold. The screen, while not as clear as the iphone or large as the ipad is adequate. The reason I am returning the device is three fold. First of all the rear facing camera quit working. Secondly, the Tmobil g3 would not connect after numerous attempts due to the buggy web interface. Finally, I was unable to register the device with Samsung, again, due to the buggy web browser. You see, while the device is internet capable, it is not compatible with many web pages. Ironically, two of these pages were Tmobil and Samsung. Anyway, I really wanted this device to be my mid size tablet (I already have an iphone and ipad), but it kept disappointing me on one thing after the other. I think I will wait for Google to release droid for the tablet (this device is really just a large cellphone, Android 2.2, was meant for smartphone-sized screens) and I may try another carrier (because apparently Tmobil rushed into the market with a poorly tested device). Or I may just get the next ipad in April with the cameras and such. I love new technology and I found the same to be true for the google TV vs the Apple TV. The Apple TV only did certain things but did them well. The Google TV tried to do a lot but did it poorly. Might just be better to hook your PC or laptop up to your TV. Anyway, nice try Galaxy, but currently you are just too far away from a quality product. (remember how Microsoft lost to Apple by releasing Vista) Bonjour

What a great piece of technology! Fits comfortably in my purse. Can use it anywhere. Just wish T-Mobile would have made it phone usable in the US like they did in Europe.

For this price not only did they miss it by locking it for phone use BUT it has a HD 1080P Video player an a 720P Camcorder and uses a A/V cable for hooking it up to a TV, so you get no HD when you play it back on the TV!! Gee, for $500 you get 2010 high tech video with 1990 quality output. What a shame when cheap tablets such as the Coby M7015 and the Ematic eGlide have a HDMI output to watch videos on the TV in HD. And this is from a company that makes HD and 3D TV's!!!

Also I went on line at Samsung and downloaded the manual and nowhere did I see how to turn off the 3G so I could use the WIFI only. And it didn't say in the part where the manual tells you how to turn the WIFI on (WLAN) if it turns the 3G off at the same time. Does this mean you have both running at the same time eating up your monthly 5G while you surf on the WIFI?

Also T mobile has it for $299.99 - $50 rebate (total $249.99) with a 2 year plan for data only of $39.99 which is the cheapest I have found for a 5G plan with no overage charges!!!

i finally got hold of a t-mobile person, he didn't know himself, but transferred me to another dept and stayed on the line in case i was dropped into dial-tone land again
The answer from T-Mobile is the pre-paid no contract, no discounts $700 plus with tax t mobile galaxy tab that is wi/fi and broadband capable will have to purchase a prepaid broadband plan, and use our $$ broadband for many of the services and features, including slacker radio, and downloading apps . Registering and using many of the pre-installed apps, including email is crippled by t mobile undwr wi-fi and I must pay for broadband usage even though wi fi is readily available. My brother has a ipad and i was able to do everything wifi,, the apple store guy said that many people were getting the Mi-Fi devices and using it as a wireless router and running all their devices on wifi from it, in places where only broadband was available
It is going back, i can only browse the web with a lousy proprietaty browser for over $700 with tax.

I purchased my Galaxy Tab about two weeks ago. Since then it has exceeded my every expectation. As most reviewers have stated, the Tab is crippled by the cellphone providers with Verizon being the most restrictive. With the T-Mobile version, the stock tab can not be used as a cell phone (this is easily overcome by searching the web), but all other features are enabled. The bluetooth is fully functional and has an impressive range when used with a stereo headset. Bluetooth printing, although somewhat clunky, also works quite well. The capacitive touch screen is very responsive, and easy to read although I find it too bright for e-reading, so I seldom use the auto setting. With all the Apps available from the market, it has become too easy to grab the Tab. From texting to Navigation the Tab does it all. I'm not ready to give up my laptop and cellphone quite yet, but I haven't turned on my laptop since getting the Tab and my cellphone plan expires next month so we shall see.
