Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. weighed in at 176 pounds with 30 days to go before his Sept. 15 fight against middleweight champion Sergio Martinez, according to Tito Gonzalez, an official with the World Boxing Council.

Chavez’s weight was certified on Aug. 15 by Dr. Antonio Salazar, according to information provided to BoxingScene.com.

That puts Chavez at the maximum of what he could be for the sanctioning body’s mandatory 30-day weigh-in, which requires fighters to be within 10 percent of what they must be for their bout. (Chavez is the WBC’s titleholder at 160 pounds).

Martinez, meanwhile, weighed in at 174 pounds and also had that weight certified on Aug. 15, according to William Boodhoo of the WBC. Martinez’s manager, Sampson Lewkowicz, said on Twitter yesterday that the figure was certified by Dr. Roger Anderson.

“All of Martinez’s medicals have been complied with,” Boodhoo wrote via email. “Still awaiting the medicals of Chavez.”
