Healthy NewsWorks Book Reveal
Honoring the publication of
Leading Healthy Change In Our Communities 2020
In this year of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will celebrate the launch of our ninth book with a special virtual event rather than an in-person gathering.
Jackie Judd, a former reporter for ABC News, NPR, and the "PBS NewsHour," will host the online event, scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 20.
Students, health leaders, teachers, and others will join us from their respective homes or safe spaces. You’ll hear Healthy NewsWorks student reporters interview prominent figures in health, psychology, journalism, and other fields on issues related to the coronavirus.
And we'll unveil the 2020 book, which features interviews with Philadelphia-area health leaders.
Registration is FREE!

Your generosity will help us continue to deliver accurate, relevant, and engaging health news and information that is written and illustrated by elementary and middle school students in high-needs schools.
Introducing our leaders
Leading Healthy Change In Our Communities 2020—People Who Are Shaping a Better Future is written and illustrated by elementary and middle school students who have interviewed 10 Philadelphia-area health leaders who are working to prepare our communities for a healthier future.
The 2020 health leaders, who were selected from community nominations, are:
The student journalists also interviewed three health leaders from past books. The year in parentheses is when they were originally recognized in the Leading Healthy Change series:
Our thanks to all of these individuals for their contributions to our communities and for sharing their stories with our student journalists.
