So What Next, a Smurfs Movie?! Yes.

Paramount Pictures has acquired the film rights to the Smurfs. Jordan Kerner and Nickelodeon Movies will produce a 3D cgi feature film based on the characters.

They are planning on making a trilogy and hope to have the first film out in 2008 -- the 50th anniversay of the Smurfs, which started as a Belgain comic script in 1958.

Herb Ratner will write the script.

Speaking of monkeys... If an infinite number of monkeys typing on an infinite number of typewriters would eventually produce the collected works of William Shakespeare, I think we can be increasingly certain that one monkey can produce a rehashed, punchy, souless Hollywood script.

I hope this movie finds a worthy director, like Smurfie Bol, or Uwe Smurf. He could get alot of smurfing talent for this smurf, as well as a smurfing budget in the several millions of smurf-dollars. That's some major smurfing coin for a smurf of this smurfitude.
