Travers: ‘Skyfall’ Is a Top Five Bond Movie

New entry in spy series affirms Daniel Craig as second best Bond

Skyfall already scored big in landing Adele for its theme song, but does the newest James Bond flick properly execute its mission? Peter Travers digs into the 24th entry in the series (or 23rd, depending on your opinion of Never Say Never Again). Though he’s a big fan of Sean Connery and Goldfinger, Travers has high praise for current star Daniel Craig. “Daniel Craig is the second best James Bond of all time,” says Travers, even if he calls Quantum of Solace the “worst James Bond movie of all time.”

But Skyfall affirms Craig’s lofty position in the James Bond canon. “I put Skyfall in the top five Bond movies ever made,” says Travers. “Daniel Craig couldn’t be better. It’s as if he forgot Quantum of Solace and moved right in after Casino Royale. We find out things, dark things, about James Bond.” Travers calls Javier Bardem “amazing” in the villain role, and says the whole cast (which also includes Judi Dench as M and Ben Whishaw as a young Q) is “on top of their game.” Suspense, stunts, action, deep characters – this Bond movie has it all.
