How the Church of Scientology Creates Identity Confusion:

The first thing that is required is a "Stable Data" as it is
called in the Church. This is something to anchor all the other data.

An example of this goes like this. Lets say you were standing
outside a Scientology org and saw two men arguing loudly with one
another. One man was dressed in the blue staff dress of a Sea Org
member and the other was dressed kind of shabby, like a bum. The
church staff member was yelling at him to go away and leave his church
alone. The guy in the shabby clothes is carrying a picket sign.

Now, you "know" the guy dressed in the blue Sea Org outfit was a
Scientologist and a staff member. You figure because he was yelling at
the other guy that the other guy MUST be a enemy of the church. Let's
say the arguing stops and the staff member goes back into the
building. Now if you hate the Church of Scientology, you might have a
tendency to walk up to the guy with the picket sign as he's walking
away and talk with him. Why? Because you feel you have something in
common with him, you think that you have "Reality" with him.

If you walk up to him and start talking about doing something to
the hated church you will get lots of agreement with the bummy looking
guy with the sign. You might even get to know him and become friends.
He might even invite you to an upcoming picket. You might even start
to trust him enough to start telling him of how you were thinking
about blowing an org up or something. This is the crux of the whole
situation, the bummy guy ISN'T an enemy of the church but a undercover
scientologist. The argument out in front of the org was staged by the
bummy guy and the staff member to convince you the bummy guy was a
enemy of Scientology. At this point you have made you first big
mistake because the information you told him will get back to the
church so it can be stopped or so you can be stopped. This is the
whole reason for the big acting scene outside the org, to create
"identity confusion" in order to find out what you were up to. Their
goal was to get you to assign the wrong identity to the bummy looking
guy.

Now, you might ask, how does this situation transfer to this
newsgroup? Well, in order to do the same thing they needed a stable
data in terms of an identity. Somebody everyone is sure of what their
identity is. In the ARS newsgroup, that would be the "Barbara Schwarz"
or the "Nelson" character. Everybody knows "Barbara Schwarz" is a
Scientologist, she makes no bones about it and she does it on purpose.
She's what can be called in church terms the "overt" Scientologist.
Now, if we read a post where she is attacking, let's say Jeff
Jacobson, calling him a "fanatic" or a "suppressive screwball". Since
we "know" Barbara is a Scientologist and she's attacking Jeff he
"must" be a critic, right? Wrong. He's a Scientologist running the
same stunt as the two guys in front of the org. She's there to give
stability to all the other identities on the newsgroup. She's OSA's
identity anchor point within the newsgroup, just like the Sea Org
member was in the earlier example.

The idea is to convince any real critics reading this newsgroup
that Jeff is a real critic too. Next thing you know, Jeff is inviting
you to an upcoming picket. He might say something like this to you:
"Come on out and picket with us at the New York org, we'll have some
fun and kick some cult butt!" Now anything you say to this person is
going to go right back to the church. If you go on the picket, the
church will find out what you look like, who you are, where you live,
and where you work. Which was the whole point in the first place. The
church likes to know who they're enemies are. How can you "handle" an
enemy if you can't locate him?

Sometimes I've noticed that if the phony identity of an
undercover scientologist starts to be in question by other people on
the newsgroup, the word will go out and "Barbara Schwarz" or "Nelson",
OSA's identity anchor points, will start attacking him overtly in
order to shore up his identity as a critic.

So what do you think? Pretty smooth, right? By the way, they
pulled the same bit on Bob Minton with Tory Christman (who posts under
the name of "Magoo" on this newsgroup). Using pickets as the stable
datum for her phony identity of: "X-Scientologist, X-OSA and Enemy of
Scientology". Which they made sure was video recorded. Every time
Tory's identity as a critic starts to be in question, Tory will point
to those old pickets or Scientology will arrange a new picket in order
to shore up her identity as a critic of Scientology.

I don't think that your Truth Seeker identity is a funny or bright one,
Larry Toomajan, and nothing that you say about Scientology, L. Ron
Hubbard or me is even remotely true. I also don't believe you that you
are no porn movie director.

You see, this is a fine example of what I'm taking about. The
scientologist who posts under the name of ""Barbara Schwarz" is trying
to get you to assign the wrong identity of "Larry Toomajan" to the
person posting behind the name of "Truth Seeker" when in fact that is
not me. She is trying to create identity confusion. The church of
scientology does this on this newsgroup because they think that it's
the solution to criticism of their oranization.

Truth Seeker:

Thank you. I am glad that you see that too.

I really am, because I like people who can tell the actual differences
between real life objects.

It is really getting scary, Larry (notice the rhyme) when you need a
sock puppet like your very own Truthseeker to defend yourself.
