Fulham have £1.5m bid for Barnsley's Stones rejected as Southampton and Wigan lurk
Fulham have had a £1.5million offer for Barnsley right back John Stones rejected as the Championship club want to loan him back for the rest of the season.
Southampton have also made enquiries for the England Under 19 defender, as have Wigan.
Roberto Martinez is keen to bring in a right-sided defender but is also looking at West Brom centre back Craig Dawson following Ivan Ramis's knee injury.
Target: Martin Jol hopes to bring John Stones to Fulham
England Under 21 international Dawson has interested Bolton, Blackpool and Swansea.
Bolton manager Dougie Freedman had given the go-ahead for a six-month loan but Wigan are now in the hunt and they are willing to pay a fee. They have also checked on Levante's Vicente Iborra, 24.
Bolton winger Martin Petrov, 33, hopes to seal a move to Espanyol on Tuesday.
