EDIT: This cur is now trading as advantage_stamps.

Buyer Beware

The account has been dormant for a while but is again active and he is ripping off collectors with forged SPECIMEN perfins. Where there is smoke there is fire and anything offered by him must be treated as suspect.

This was the first lot I looked at or his recent sales and listings.

eBay item number: 331362903052

FALKLAND ISLAND 1935 SILVER JUBILEE SET PERF SPECIMEN MH.

Image

Image

It would appear that tiny silverfish are in residence at the home of stamps181 and can spell SPECIMEN.

The 1 shilling gives it away.

The second stamp I have just taken a look at is this 2 Shilling New Zealand Admiral. Described as being MNH.

Now I suspect you are already thinking he has re-gummed the stamp. That is not the worst of it.

NEW ZEALAND 1926 2/ & 3/ ADMIRALS FINE MNH.

eBay item number: 331394191518

Image

OH dear. The stamp has been re-perfed as well. The 'spot' in the lower left corner is still there on the repaired and re-gummed stamp.

Image

Look closely at the rear and you can see the added corner on the low res scan.

Image

The rear of the original stamp.

What do you do with 2 Shilling Queensland stamp you bought in a bulk lot that has a suspect corner and a missing perf at the left?

Image

If you are pond scum you plonk a forged BNG cancel on it and sell it as a rarity to deceive collectors.

stamps181 has this item listed at the moment. eBay item number: 231420663882

QUEENSLAND 1897 2 1/2d BLUE WITH BNG CANCEL.

This Kingsford Smith MNH OS pair was recently sold on the UK site by stamps181 on a buy it now price of $1,052.95.

The stamps purportedly had a Certificate. It may have been shown in the original listing and was self hosted. After the sale stamps181 may have removed the image from photobucket or similar.

If it was there the buyer should have gone to the issueing authority web site and checked the validity of the certificate. Sadly the forger has been know to forge certificates as well.

Recorded here for posterity. Note the low quality of the image.

There are over 30 listings which have been sold recently (see here ) many of which are Specimen perfins.

You can make your own minds up whether these are genuine or not however a look at the people they follow includes the well known (to this board anyway) name of assa_jef

Image

So far all of auandr_pajgxdrkx listings have been set to private so there is no way to see the outcome of these, nor indeed what they sold for.

Meanwhile the listings for aujoh-4q99e7 have all been low value but include items like this one;

Image

eBay item No: 161545713416
Link to auction: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1882-QUEENSLAND-5-QV-HIGH-VALUE-USED-/161545713416

Nice fiscal item and recorded here for posterity but I'm wondering if this is going to make another appearance sometime soon :?: :?:

It didn't take long, now aujoh-4q99e7 is offering specimen perfins for sale. There is one set for Grenada 1937 Coronation hidden amongst some other bits designed to attract the bunnies, including a couple of £1 high value commonwealth and a New Zealand 'blue boy' pair starting at 99p.

Well despite the report eBay have once again ignored it and now there are two bids in on these dogs. And of course it is set to private bidding so no clue who is in for these.

Sadly their stupid reporting system does not allow for details so I've just reported it again and written;
I reported these as fake last week. Why have you done nothing with it? People are now bidding???

Looks like ebay got enough reports on aujoh-4q99e7 and cancelled the account today -

http://feedback.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&u ... llFeedback

My figures showed the gullible had bought about $65,000 of non existent stamps off him in recent weeks. Buying rare stamps via "private auctions" (always a red flag) from a low feedback seller with no past history of owning such material.

I hope they lose the lot personally, but based on the work of others they may not all do their money.

Just reported the guy above - "assa_jef" - hope many other here do too - ebay will lose a lot of money on these and recent sales.

He has another ID doing the same thing right now - offering a string of material he clearly does not own, 3 day auctions, and hopes to vanish with the paypal $20,000 funds before the gullible starting complaining their bargain stamps have not arrived.

"auandr_pajgxdrkx" and "assa_jef" are the new ebay ID scamming stamp collectors offering material he does not have, and will never ship, and vanish with the monies paid.

They have sold about $50,000 of non-existent material in the past week or so.

When ebay close these accounts down her will stamp using "a-z_stamps" or whatever new name he changes that to. Luckily googling it means all roads lead here.

He has as usual moved on to another name.

Now trading as century_philatelics.

Image
But he is up to his old tricks with this one: 1913 10/- Pink-Grey 1st wmk Hand Stamped SPECIMEN MLH.

Item: 331802628712

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1913-10-Pink-Grey-1st-wmk-Hand-Stamped-SPECIMEN-MLH-/331802628712

As usual he has used a really low res scan so you can't see any detail on the stamp to hide the repair that is not mentioned, as it should be to comply with eBay rules.

Even so if you know what you are looking for the repair is still evident.

Image

Image

Image

Image
This is how the stamp appeared when it came into his possession. A simple search on eBay found it. Note the difference in the quality of the scans. If you see a stamp with a scan like that used by century_philatelics you can presume something is being hidden, as is the repair in this case.

What do you do when you buy a 6d Westeren Australia Swan imperf that is clearly faulty and described such.

Of course not mention the faults and supply a scan of such poor quality that you can barely make out that there is a stamp in the image in order to hide the faults.

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/WESTERN-AUSTRALIA-1857-6d-Bronze-Imperf-Swan-used-/231880558172

Image

Image

Image

When he bought this in January, it was clearly described as a spacefiller with 2 tears. The top tear is to the left of the P and that is one hell of a scissor cut at bottom right.

This will only end in tears for the bunny buyer.

The old tricks of this seller continue with forged OS perfins.

One of the regular stamps to appear from this seller is the 1928 3d Kookaburra - with added OS perfins (they are forged).

What are possibilities of opening an ebay account and selling information

eg sell price $1,000,000

Then having the images that traralgon3844 has been supplying placed through out a large amount of listings. (Past and present)

We could also place a link to these threads

Nothing will sell and who ever wants to makes their own ie Stampboards accounts they can add as many listings with the same images the more we place on ebay the more people on ebay will see our listings and hopefully come to these threads and not get ripped off and better still cut his profits.

Every time he list a fake we list it also with as many of the same listing as we can.

The latest forgery from advantage_stamps is one of his stock in trades forged BCOF overprints.

He has recently listed this lot : B.C.O.F 1946 set to 5/ Opt BCOF without the 2/ MUH.

Item: 232142392623

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/B-C-O-F-1946-set-to-5-Opt-BCOF-without-the-2-MUH-/232142392623

The overprint on the 5 shilling is forged. You usually judge the rest of the stamps in a lot by the company it keeps. Say no more.

If he is true to form he will read this thread and completely alter the listing. Sorry creep it is recorded here.

Advantage_stamps has another item listed: 1938 £1 Coronation Robe Strip of 4 Fine used.

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1938-1-Coronation-Robe-Strip-of-4-Fine-used-/332030673593

Item: 332030673593

Image

Image

It looks good doesn’t it. Well he has sold it before under one of his previous names, so it was either shilled or returned.
Previous sale.

Image

Why would you return it? Simple, it started life in his hands as this. There is no mention of the major repair in any of the listings.

Even accepting that a decent % of ebay stamp buyers are brain dead, that "Fine Used" strip for $71 would seem a decent buy. IF "Fine Used".

So why don't these morons leave a Negative when it arrives and see a large patch is glued onto stamp 2??

He has sold that strip once before under one of his identities and it was obviously returned or shill purchased (got too greedy).

But that is not the purpose of this post. I have been aware that he is selling Australia Post satchels by the truck load and he probably doesn't own them.

This is his sales figures for the last 14 days.

Image

These are the completed sales, but he still has some live ones with multiple (tens) of sales made.

https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/advantage_stamps/m.html?_nkw&_arm ... 6732.m1684

Paypal is going to be $90,000 odd poorer it seems.

I had a look at one of the postage lots he had for sale and it seems that the moronic ebayers have presumed that someone will sell close on $3,000 of very recent/current postage of $1,800. Only a fool would believe that and what do they say about a fool and his money.

The system really is broken.
Crooks prosper, John, as Paul knows only too well.

However, in the non philatelic world, as Paul also knows, only too well, what goes around comes around.

Perhaps, one day, that proverb will be brought to bear upon our subject.

Planet eBay confounds even Astrophysicists, it is well known.

Proud, as I am, of my 16 year record as a Buyer/Seller with eBay (11932 feedback's as of today: 100% record), I was a bit taken back recently by a rap over the knuckles by eBay. (rap an unintended pun, probably appreciated only by those who know me)

I had not delivered goods as a seller within the eBay designated time frame to a couple of buyers.

One delivery instance involved 23 days duration to U.K., the other 21 days within Australia (!).

Fortunately, the very understanding buyers did not hold me responsible. Only eBay did that.

Just how "The Sydney Forger" gets away with it, and it has been for a very long time, is a philatelic challenge to Newton's Principles.

He does own them, he does sell them, but they are NOT genuine AP satchels.

They are fakes produced in China, bought into Australia by the million.

Dear, oh dear; little wonder Australian postage rates have been required to be escalated.

One wonders what Mighty Fahour is putting in place to counter this onslaught to revenue.

One wonders, is he aware of the situation?

There was a time, even in my historically relatively short philatelic career, when a Federal offense such as defrauding Commonwealth Revenue to the extent that is occurring here would have landed you in the slammer? And not for a long weekend.

I'd actually be interested to see if they actually do sell these AP fakes.

There are a lot of sellers on Alibaba and AliExpress using stock photos of what would be illegal items, whether it be these satchels, or Perth Mint silver coins, or stamp minisheets.

Five years ago, before everybody got in on the game, I used to import licensed retro metal signs from the US/UK and re-sell them online. I found numerous stores on Alibaba with all manner of brands and thought I'd hit a goldmine.

Upon enquiry, not one of them had IP rights for reproduction and were just using the images as "inspiration". They would not manufacture nor send items until they had the paperwork that it was lawful to do so. And this is China we're talking about.

I suspect the above link to be the same.

Even at 9c each, the minimum buy is $900 USD with no mention of FOB. Importing 10,000 counterfeit items, using the very service you're intending to defraud?

I don't see how they would be able to add the tracking peel off stickers and bar codes. I agree it's just a generic 'this is what we can make' image. Plus its the old bags.

Perhaps they made them for AP?

I thought I posted somewhere before that if you look for the bulk price of these items, you find that he is selling them just above that price, but a substantial discount to just buying 1. So don't go off buying 1 or 10 for a price.

edit: strike that. He sells the 3kg bag for $10.50 each when the best price for buying 100 is $13.70

I wonder what might an LPO get them for and then offload this way?

LPO's only make about 12% margin on these.

Seeing ebay/Paypal charge about 10% on that $10.50, you do not need a Math Major to join up the dots.

Folks we have a sensible rule here for superb reason that photos ALWAYS are essential for all such posts..

That listing is now removed, and as no-one above bothered to spend a minute and add a screen capture of it, there is now no record of it.

PHOTOS at all times please -- no idea how many times I have posted that common sense rule. This is EXACTLY why.

All the Australia Post satchel listings appear to have been removed from Alibaba.

The satchels were similar to the image below which is within another listing. When I looked at the satchel the original post linked to the satchel was lacking in one very important item, as does this one. Can you spot it?

Clients would murder me if I used any plastic satchels, and not stamps, but don't the AP ones have peel off tracking labels built in?

The satchels that I saw on Alibaba were sans barcodes, which means they were not pre paid for postage and without that all important barcode can not be tracked.

Good luck trying to use them. Having said that, just about anything will get through at Australia Post these days.

In fact Australia Post sell barcodeless satchels themselves for about 20 to 30 cents each. They are listed as and inscribed Flat Rate Satchel, and need the postage and tracking label to be affixed. These are the type the 'stamped satchel' sellers sell on ebay.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Australia-Post-Flat-Rate-Satchel- ... 2104365145

So the good news is that you can apparently use these satchels and affix the satchel postage rate and only pay the satchel price, which is especially handy when posting a 4kg parcel to Perth.
